Tog Ice Layer

never been out to Tog. area and not sure on the normal weather patters. i see that they got a 1/2 - 3/4 inch layer of ice there and was wondering if that happens on a normal year, or are riders going to be hitting it all year? i know that it depends on the amount of snow that they get, but was just looking for some of your past experiences. i am heading there on Dec. 27 and wondering if i will be tunneling down to it, or if that will be under 6 feet of now by then. once again i know that it depends on the snow fall they get, just looking for historical data, or experience.

Thanks,

Bish

Tog ice

By the time you get there you won't even know that layer is there. Its not a bad thing anyway you need a base so all that wyoming powder can set up on it. Have fun tog is the best. Hillclimbing, boondocking tog has it all.

That ice layer is common and when the next storm comes thats when the avalanche danger goes up... Always check the avalanche warning web site or check on turpin meadows thread. Dennis always reports the danger with his weather thread..

The "Ice Layer" is not typical, conditions will get better. Lots of Togwotee posts this year...sounds like it will be a busy place:eek::beer;

Hey Adam, we'll be out 27 - 2 (or 3).
Not sure where we'll be staying yet.
Group of 6, family and reletives.
Hopefully this late start doesn't cause too many problems..

I've noticed a lot more popularity in the CO section this year/season too, and lots of new members.
Not sure if its just people finding out about the forums, or that many 'newbies' or what.
