to what other sleds does the pro compare to?

To start let me say, any sled can be mastered just fine.

If you are planning on riding a lot and keeping this sled for a few years, i would forget your dislike for the "tippy feeling". If you are going to be doing a lot of mountain riding you will soon find that the tippy sled will let you advance a bit quicker as a new rider. Their is a point as you advance in which a tippy sled will be your friend. My first sled was the 08 Rev xp, next year i bought the 09 M8. I felt i could maneuver the m8 so much easier. If money isn't really a problem buy the Rev this year and if you want something diff next year go get it. Remember though, it won't take too many rides till that tippy feeling goes away.
Good luck and make sure to let us know what you get with pics :)

I agree with brandon on this.

Switching from an older chassis sled to a newer one always seems to take some time to get use to. They all feel tippy at first. I did not think I was going to like the M chassis after riding a rev but after some seat time I was riding better and had more confidence then I had on the rev. Now its the same thing for the Pro. Takes some time to get use to but I'm getting the hang of it and soon I will be a better rider on it.

My guess is your friend tried an M or Dragon once, twice, maybe three times didn't like it and never gave it a longer chance. I can totally see that. You have to have more seat time on these sleds.

Anyways, in my opinion the M feels more like a pro.

oddly I live in the same area, work for a dealer, and know the owners of at least 2 of the other dealers quite good(all polaris dealers, although ours is poo,cat and soon to be doo as well) and I havent heard or seen any go down this year(I am sure a few have..its massed produced..there is bound to be a few).........

Exactly! A few (4 or 5) listed on BCR Alaska. Just as many or more snow pros reported eating pistons. All apparently due to low oil issues or air bubbles.

Being your first sled I would stay away from the M10 due to the weight. If you are going for a cat get the M8, it may lack the ponies of the 10 but pulling the weight around after a hard day of riding is tough. If you look at power to weight the M8 is very close. The M8 will be an easier ride.
IMO this is also why the PRO is so great, rider fatigue is less and you are able to move it around better when you are gassed. I know I come home tired but not nearly as wiped out as I did last year riding the IQ chassis.

Still looking to buy my first mountain sled for riding in Whistler area so
mainly mountains and powder.

Just tried an m8 2010 today with my friend that has a summit rev06 (with the sway bar removed) and although this was my third time only, I didn't like the feeling I had on the m8. The seat was too high and the handling wasn't as smooth as the rev. It also felt
more tippy and less stable than the rev.

My friend who has a lot of experience also prefered the summit rev.

Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of deep powder today but still had some
spots 1 to 3 foot deep.

So, for those of you pro owners that have tried other sleds like the different ski doos (rev, rev xp, etecs) and artic cats, to what other sleds would you say the pro compare to.

You do realize there is no Polaris dealer within several hours of Whistler... I think Langley is the closest. The cat dealer in Pemby is pretty good.

I live in Squamish, so it is less than 2 hours away and if the sled is reliable, I shouldn't have to go there too often.

Looking to buy a rev 05-07 right now but there is nothing here for sale at a good price.

However, there is a good deal on a 2011 rmk pro with 1000 miles(1660 km) on it. I might go buy it and if I don't like it after a few times, I should be able to sell it with a minimal loss.

Is that the demo sled from Sea to Sky?

with the type of riding you plan on doing (powder/mountain riding), there is no way if you buy a Pro you won't like it! I'll even take it a step further and say if you buy it and don't like it i'll put one hundred pennies in your paypal account!!!

Nothing in Vancouver? What is considered a good deal if you don't mind me asking. About 9k in the lower 48 for a 2011 pro.
As far as dropping like flies at 700-1200 miles? I have not heard of that at all. Just the opposite. We have two 2011 Pro's. Have not had any serious issues.
I know a lot of people that jumped from Ski-doo, and Cat to Polaris last year and have not gone back. That may change in the coming years but right now the Pro RMK is the way to go IMO. $.02:canada:

I hate being a cat guy talking bad about poo's in the poo forum and you gotta know i really do like the rmk!!

Out of 6 of my pro rmk buddies 3 have now lost there motor. 2, 11's and one 12. Two 11's were both crank bearings the 12 was claimed to be air in the oil lines at 220 miles.

I love the pro rmk its an awesome sled i really wouldnt mind one in the fleet, but if you dont bieleve me call up hpak cause they did all 3 of my buddys motor jobs in short order (great dealer)

This season will tell the story on the 11's. I honestly hope everyone has great luck with there 11's and 12's!

Some of you got 4 year warranties, i wouldnt mind a new motor every couple of years or a new one right before warranty was up!!
