Next time have one ounce of courtesy and help with the parking situation at RE. If you would have taken 45 seconds and moved your trailer-less truck over by a trucks width and made room for a truck and trailer, like we so nicely asked, you would have gotten a lot of thank yous and some good kharma coming your way. Since your response was much douchier. I hope you spent the day by yourself and digging the whole time. Courtesy is contagious!

Was the craziest parking I have ever seen as well. Every parking area was full. Which is why it was so dang frustrating when some jackazz won't do his part to help out. Because he was "ready to ride"

I feel lucky I have been able to ride weekdays the last 8 or so years at the Ears.. I don't know how you weekend warriors do it weekend after weekend, I surly would have quit the sport by now if I would have had to put up with that crap as we did today... The sad thing is all my expectations blew into the trees overnight, I was amazed how wiped clean the open areas were this morning, now we are starting over to cover rocks and stumps... Be safe out there...

This sucks! What a year, eh? I was up there Thursday and couldnt park any where........Really on a Thursday? Mostly because people are stupid and cant park and dont think about others. That being said the lots were a mess as they were unplowed, but THE SKIERS LOT JUST WEST OF DUMONT WAS PLOWED TO PERFECTION!!! WTF is that all about? I almost went postal when I saw that.

Don't have a choice. Most of us have jobs that tie us to a desk or an office during the weekeday. I wish I could just drop everything and ride during the week. I took a PTO day Thursday to ride but by the time I got there there was nowhere to park. There was just a small area to park on the East Summit and that was full and you couldn't see across the highway. A semi just about smoked some clown who got his skags caught on the asphalt.

So just for sh*ts and grins I drove on West and saw that the skier lots were beautifully cleaned out. I'm with Ike on that one. It's BS! I know for a fact some sledders "tip" the CDOT guys to help clean the lots but it's the worthless non-registered skiers that get the golden treatment. The rest of the sledder lots were jammed with 3-4' of snow with no chance of getting a fully loaded truck and trailer in. For the first time ever I had to turn around and go home. Got some much needed stuff done but woulda rather been enjoying the snow.

Drove up from Iowa and got there Thursday morning. Couldnt see **** and when we get to the parking areas they are all full. So dangerous. There is so much room to expand parking whats the reason not to? Obviously Friday and Saturday were impossible. Luckily we had a little 2 place so we unhooked it and parked the truck and trailor seperate. Glad to hear thats as bad as it gets cause I never remembered it like that.

It was the worst I've seen Saturday. Got up there around nine and the bottom lot wasn't plowed yet not a spot to be found so we headed over to grizzly creek it wasn't much better but a least you can just park going up the road .

This year RE is like that one watering hole in the Serengeti that still has water. Went to a different location early Sat that usually has good snow. It looked like it should look on Dec 1st. Played my 4th round of golf today of 2013... WTF

It was a zoo Saturday for sure, but it was worth it.

It was. But Friday damn near physically destroyed me. We had a guy take a line into a ravine and the only way out was back up. Ended up shoveling and tromping out a 10-12 wide path for a couple hundred yards. And he was from 3000' elevation so he was done 15 minutes in.

There is a proposal out there by the Forest Service to provide major improvements on RE. Let's hope it gets done for all your sakes. I haven't ridden there yet but from all these posts I think maybe I will stay away for now. I believe the main SNowest page had a link so that you could add your comments to the Re proposal. Please do so, especially the part about fee parking. I wouldn't mind a fee if the skiers had to pay one too but there is no talk in the plan about that.

The skiers on highway 65 on Grand Mesa have 5 plowed lots, the snowmobilers have 2. After a tragic fatal parking lot accident at one of the skier lots there is a huge uproar over providing even more larger skier lots. We have two, they have five, yet they point at our newest lot (admittedly tremendous) and say how come they get such special treatment? Of course two of their lots are at least as good and one of theirs is freaking huge. And ours was partially funded through our snowmobile registration fees. Where's their money? Oh wait, they don't have any. They just want ours.

Snowy Range was a crowded mess on saturday as well. The fact is the sport has grown in these areas 3-4 times due to the out of state riders. Improvements in parking is sorely needed...and its only going to get worse...

While I dislike the out of state users as much as the next guy, this mess was Colorado locals. 9 out of 10 trucks were from Colorado and I'm will ing to bet that most of them were from the Front Range. I saw a couple of Iowa rigs, one WY rig and one PA rig. And they were all parked normally. The ones that were blocking spots with sleds were the very same Motorhome folks that are there every weekend.

All you guys keep it in mind when you are on the Grand Mesa you are more than welcome to come to Thunder Mountain Lodge to park whenever you would like. Huge lot with lots of room.

Thurs was insane! MC lot wasn't plowed so everyone parked on the side of the road, and in near whiteout conditions it was suuuuper safe... I spoke with a couple peeps trying to squeeze in and what not, everyone was pretty descent about it. Glad you IA boys didn't get shut out completely, IA boys get special treatment from me, fam and wife is from Sidney ;)

Ralph, I'm pretty sure if you had the extra time/money you would go where the snow is also (out of state). Some non-locals want to come enjoy some snow its fine, we live here and have the pleasure of rideing "everytime" its good. :face-icon-small-win
