What kit at SLP is $7K??? The stage 4 kit is just under $2300.

I think he meant he didnt want to drop bookoo bucks on a turbo. I just installed a stage three slp on mine. The seat of the pants dyno tells me it was money well spent. I am in northern MN and in the 6-8 inches of fresh snow we got my speedo was showing 106-108 as opposed to the low to ikd 90's it used to do. This is on a 2012 SBA. In my mind it has made a bunch more power and really woke this little fellar up.

Talking a BD turbo or a Carl's BB for 7k, I know how much a SLP kit cost and that why I'm interested just didn't know if it was worth the 2k or saving it and putting it towards a turbo,

IMO with all the positive feedback with the RK tech drop in kit, i would invest in that power increase and the reliability it gives. But it does sounds like since you own a 13 you will need a fuel controller with the drop in kit... Or maybe look into the Indy Dan stroker kit. Seems like another mod to help the motor in both performance and reliability. Then invest in a good set of weights, and maybe a muffler to drop a couple lbs, this would get you at the same price as a stage 3/4 slp kit.

I am running the PAR ultimate pro with MDS weights and highly recommend it. im still fine tuning my clutch weight but right now im pulling 70.7 grams at 5000 to 6000 ft and probably going to add another gram. This kit is amazing it comes with a power addictions head(im running 13.1), slp pipe and can and power commander.

I have the Stage 4 in my 12, and my ridding buddy has the stage 3 in his 12. It does depend on what you are going to ask out of your sled? If you are a big chute climbing fool then the SLP kit might leave you a little unhappy. If you are looking for a technical sled then the stage 3 or 4 will work very well. The power increase I seen over stock was well worht the 2300 bucks it cost to get the kit. My stage 4 was a 30% race gas set up, and it proved to be untouchable compared to other sleds with the same cc. I was very impressed with it. Both my sled and my ridding buddies have had nothing but trouble free miles. I put 2000 on mine 12 last yr. with never a hicup!
these SLP kits will not hang with a big bore in the same chassis. I do know know this.
Like I stated it all depends on what you are looking for in a sled.

Yea I'm not looking for know chute climbing machine, much more technical rider love the trees and the ditches.

PAR head is 10 horse in the mid range alone plus the slp pipe its 17 plus horsepower increase. I just cant say enough good things about this kit it never skipped a beat.

Do you ride Alpine? I may be headed that way in a couple weeks. I will have both my sleds with me.

Yea just south east of alpine but would like to ride them and see have to let me know when you make it out and how my schedule looks! Thanks

Just a thought, Northstar's piston kit claims about the same hp increase as the SLP stage 4 for half the money. And much more dependable a than stock. I got one and its awesome.

I have the RKT Drop In Kit (pistons & Head, 13.5domes), SLP Full setup, PCV with SLP's stage 4 mapping and its an awesome setup right now in my 2013 155".

MDS weights pulling 68grams at 8,000+
Purple/BLK Secondary
Green/BLK Primary
Team Helix

Ran straight 91 with a splash of 100LL for giggles and no DET.

I've out pulled a 2012 stage 4 SLP and many stock cats including a 2013 in Togwotee last weekend

In all I have less then $2000 with everything

If you want more info contact Jeremy at Lewis Outdoor Equipement in Idaho...he has many of these setups on the snow.

I have the pipe, head and pcv. I'm running 1 gram more weight over stock last year and thats about all it can handle. Not very impressed.. would save my money if i was you.

the stage 3 and 4 set ups i have seen run circles around stock sleds. obviously they wont hold a candle to BB or turbo.

check with your local dealer to make sure he will honor warranty still. but for the price the SLP kits are a great deal.

Stage 3 is a very noticable improvement in the fun part of the power band.

I have the stage 3 SLP on my 13' 146 pro and it is seriously unreal. I don't even have the vforce reeds in and EVERY SINGLE person that rides my sled thinks it's unbelievable compared to a stocker. I am running a lime green primary spring as opposed to the blue/pink that SLP recommends.

I was filming last week in McCall and the head mechanic at Hinson Polaris rode my sled and was so impressed he bought the stage 3 kit they had off the shelf and installed it the next day.

It's no turbo but seriously it's money well spent especially if you ride tight technical trees or hit a lot of jumps. Plus if you just want to run your stock reeds thats no big deal and it will make the kit even cheaper.

I should be up your way (as long as it snows) in another week or so if you wanna ride mine, I'll keep in touch thru PM.

My vote is for the RTK drop in with slp pipe and fuel controller added on top.. mine is a '12 163 and runs awesome on this setup!!

Thanks for all the great input guys the wheels are turning in overdrive in my head, my dealer is buckys not sure about warranty but they will be doing all the install and tunning sandy def. knows how to set up a sled! Let me know Darcy I'm doing snow dances daily and have phatty tag along he still owes me a ride, (it was in the sleddeck purchase agreement) ;)
