TKILLC or C3 Belt drive?

With either of these kits is it just the top gear that changes when changing ratios or both.

Also the c3 kit advertises more belt clearance on the bottom, only way to do that is with a smaller bottom gear. Kinda the opposite of what you want to do if gearing down. Am I missing something here?

The C3 uses sprockets sized closer to the gears you ran in the chaincase because of when he started development. You can still get very low ratios and with the better belts tooth profile and construction the sprocket size is not an issue. Likely both fine units, I just went with C3 for my stuff because the other one was unheard of at that time, and Kevin has been excellent to work with. Some of the sprockets Kevin made me are even smaller than his stock offerings and work fine. None of that 2/3 wrap sales pitch BS of the other brand. JMO though

I went C3 my only regret is not doing it before riding the sled. 3 blown qd belts in 700 miles. None since the C3 kit was installed.

How's the reviews on this? psyhosleds doesn't have the retro kits for 11-12 models...?

That alone is your review! We can't keep them in stock... Nothing but great feedback from ALL of our customers!

I'd buy TKI but just because I've personally talked to him and he's 1 hr away from me

I have an excellent relationship with C3 and the owner Kevin. From Alaska the distance might as well be the same and TKI was not even on the map as far as sled parts go. I have no idea how long he has been in business or how long he will be around. C3 on the other hand has been around for 10-15 years and has proven it's intent to stay in the business.

My two cents

I would buy only Canada made.... see how dumb that makes you look

I think he was making a point that shipping would cost more on top of the c3 already being more expensive.:noidea: Besides, what's so "dumb" about buying products made in the country you are a citizen of? It's too bad more people don't buy products made locally instead of buying stuff outsourced to China or elsewhere.

I recently read a load of poor feedback on C3 over in the Cat section. Poorly fitting parts, incomplete kits, multiple complaints....

I definately do not think it is fair to suggest a new vendor might not be around long based on a good experience with his competitor.

I see one vocal supporter of C3 here. If I was in the market, and since I have a '13 Pro, I am, I would do a bit more research (I have).

It does sound dumb to say you would only buy candian products.... who would do that?

First I understand why most of you lower 48er's are choosing the TKI. Cheap, close to you, American made, but essentially a copy of the C3 with enough changes to skirt the patent infringement laws.

I am not selling C3 stuff, I was simply stating my opinion, and why I chose to work with C3.

In a nut shell, TKI did not exist nor have anything available when I contacted C3 about making customs parts for my application.

Additionally since this is the PRO-ride section why would one base their buying decision on Cat riders opinion of a completely different product? Even a magician could not polish those turds (read proclimbs at least the '12's).

Finally, I never said I would only buy Canadian, that was someone else or you mis-understood.

Again just my personal expirence and opinion

Not a copy. Nor are any TKI products.

"Skirting" a patent is not an easy chore... TKI would know - they hold a couple themselves.

As a matter if fact... IS there a belt drive patent outside of Polaris? A "patent pending" doesn't make a patent... It makes a statement that there is one in the works - OR, that we want to dissuade others from making a similar product with a threat of infringement.

Please cast stones elsewhere. We have never bad mouthed C3, their products, or their people... They make excellent products. To each their own... I like to purchase products based on quality and price - the rest is irrelevant drivel.

The original poster was asking owners opinions and Since you sell the TKI and other products (yet do not pay vendor status) I'll Chaulk your input up to a salesman's worthless drivel. I have stated in previous posts either one is way better than Polaris' attempt, due to the better quality machined sprockets, a genuine Gates Carbon belt and the more efficient tooth profile. If that is throwing stones, so be it.

P.S. As stated in most every post I author it is just my opinion and I happen to be very opinionated. So be it.

PPS. A 14% change circumvents the original patent, so it is not that hard. That is why in the sled industry most little companies do not bother. As some one will tweak this or that and sell it anyway. I have checked into it as well and have an intellectual property attorney on retainer for some ideas of my own.

Your opinion was heard the first time you threw it out.

Lack of pertinent post content, lack of self confidence, and/or a failure to approach the subject matter currently posted usually incur a post script of "IMHO" or "my own personal thoughts" or "just my 2 cents"...

I welcome opinions - vehemently. Once; and once only.

If I don't fall play to YOUR way of thinking during your first iteration, chances are I never will. Stop trying to convince me.

Address the last post concerning patents... And do so honestly - that will keep us on track.

If indeed there was a "skirting" (and if so, it was legal) of a patent, just how significant would a 14% change of something as simple as a belt drive have to be? It would be huge... Much like the DynoDrive for the SkiDoo. It has a multitude of differences from other kits.

BTW, we highly appreciate the change of gears in attacking PsychoSled's "advertising status" when things in this thread appear to be passing you up. Again, no bearing on the subject at hand, but I'm certain it pertains to a product's quality.

PS - it's chalk, not chaulk; since we seem to be splitting hairs.

I don't get your comment. I'm not knocking Canadian products, Mexican products, etc. I just made the comment that it doesn't hurt that the product is made by someone in the good ol USA. If you don't like that then go buy some foreign $hit and have fun doing it.

Fred is Canadian. Somehow, this thread has become more about some of the people posting in it, than the subject matter... At least there is local loyalty.
