Tiger Woods - Shutting it down for year with broken leg and torn knee ligament

Tiger is the best role model for any sport and the best at his particular sport.

It sucks that he's out for the year but it's for the better that he sits out so his career is not jeopardized.

I see Retief Goosen said that he thought Tiger was FAKING his knee injury. I wonder what that assclown thinks now. The guy has a fawked up knee and a stress fracture and he can still beat everyone out there. :D

IMO, There has never been and probably never will be another person with the mental toughness, competitive fire and god given ability of Tiger Woods. I'm just glad I'm here to see it. :beer;

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! watched the post Open press conference and he hinted at ignoring doctors orders, but I dont think anyone thought this...

The tibia being fractures typically happen from spraining ankles...which makes you question what he really did to his knee when all that happened to tear his ACL, it doesnt sound like a simple jogging accident unless it was a SEVERE jogging incident...

Tibia being non load bearing takes quite a shock/stress to make it crack...

but in typical Tiger fashion he minimizes the incident that caused the damage....great story on him with him just fighting through the pain!!!

That's too bad this happened. I'm not a Tiger fan, but there's no question that he's the most dominant athlete in his sport at this time. I enjoy watching him, because he hits the most amazing shots I've ever seen. The most clutch putter of all time. I think he just needs to take some time off golf, and heal up. He'll be back next year, and be the favorite for every tournament he tees it up at.

LOL a YEAR OFF!!! He!! James Stewert had his ACL fixed and is back raceing MX in 3 months and is dominanting!! RC did the same thing 4 years ago4 months off and back. Now that is a tough SOB.

^^^I was thinking the same thing. Not like golf is a real strenuous sport

Yeah but RC also pussed out of the Step Up that he would have won(and still got handed silver that Renner should have gotten:mad:) RLG I know you have to have read TPs book. The FMX guys are guys who push past pain...duct taping wrists to compete, draining knees, running out of the ambulance...

Tibia being non load bearing takes quite a shock/stress to make it crack...-huh? MAybe the fibula is non load bearing, but me thinks the tibia bears some weight...not that I know anything about bones.

A torn ACL you can be back in 4 or 5 months, but by then the season will be over. There's only 2 more major's left, and after that it's just the Ryder cup, and Fed ex cup. I don't think 10 million dollars means a whole lot to Tiger. He'll make that much sitting home doing nothing. I'm sure he'll be practicing within 3 months from now.

I was skeptical of Tiger's injuries while watching him play as well. I thought he was just trying to jump start an acting career. I guess I was wrong. It takes a helluva pain tolerance to play 5 rounds and a hole with a torn ACL and fractured tibia. At 7,300 yards Tiger walked over 7 miles golfing. I know plenty of people with perfectly good knees and no fractures that don't walk that much in a month.

As cool as it would have been to see Rocco win the U.S. Open, one can't help but smile the way Tiger did it.

Tigers a pure athlete (Sunday putt on 18 for the tie was amazing).
The guys got sponsors that he is responsible for, and he played through the pain and earned his living.
As far as his knee goes, evertime he swings the club he is torqing his knee. He needs time off for it to heal correctly. Besides now the tour will be back to a level playing field and there's still some good golf to be had.

Ooops my mistake...sorry...Mixed the two up...

Let's face it, It's a little hard to imagine anyone getting hurt playing golf?

Try hitting 500 balls in one day, and tell me how your back feels in the morning. Now do that everyday of your life. The twisting in your back, and knees is a lot more than people think. Tiger swings his club at 128mph. I'd be suprised if anybody on here can swing over 100. I saw a thing on him once where he hit a bad shot in a tournament, so after he was done playing, he went back to the spot where he hit his shot, and hit 1000 balls from the same place, just in case he had to do it again. That's dedication to the sport.
