THUNDER MOUNTAIN LODGE 2012-13

Mark, anyway to put up a snow depth stick or a marker on the trees in the webcam shot? we just are getting are Rock-sleds(Phazer2's) started might come up and do some road riding this weekend:present:

Al, thought about that, but the area the webcam views I push the snow from the parking lot onto with the Snowcat to make the big flat area just outside the dining room. You know, where you always park, and can see your sleds when in the lodge, so I don't think it would be very accurate. I think I will just keep posting depths that we get and that will give people a better idea of what we truly have.
Come on up, we got over 16" yesterday and today. Rode riding should be perfect. With all the wind also, there will be stucks for sure! I need to talk to Jeff anyway. Been meaning to call him, just haven't got that far yet.

Let me know if any of you guys are doing a road ride, I am new to the area and am not all that familiar with it up there.

Thanks Cannonman, I will be up there later in the morning, I will drop in. Snowing good down in GJ, bet it's coming down up there.

The sled performed flawlessly. No burnt belt, no broken driveshaft. It had the chance also. We weren't easy on it at all. Over the hood ALL day.

Mark had his PooGoo ready just in case. Haha

Nice! That's good to hear.....better snow than we had ALL of last year!

Yea, I knocked one down similar to that. Snow has very little moisture for sure. Be nice to see a little warming to get it to base up.

Like Ray says, be prepared and be safe. This next storm could really produce.

Gotta love this quote taken from this morning's NOAA forecast:

THE BRUNT OF THIS WINTER STORM OCCURS TUESDAY NIGHT AS
THE BAROCLINIC ZONE DROPS SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA. WITHA DEEP MID LEVEL LAYER OF THETA-E LAPSE RATES OF NEAR ZERO AND
STRONG ASCENT THROUGH THE DENDRITIC ICE GROWTH LAYER...HEAVY
SNOWFALL RATES WILL BE "EYE POPPING". THIS IS A RARE DECEMBER STORMFOR THE WESTERN SLOPE WHERE PLENTIFUL MOISTURE COEXISTS WITH STRONGDYNAMICAL FORCING AND STRONG CONFLUENCE ALONG THE FRONT. NOT TOO OFTEN THAT THE MET/MAV MOS GUIDANCE FOR KGJT SHOWS A QPF CATEGORY OF3 (MEANING 0.25-0.49 INCHES IS EXPECTED IN A 12 HOUR PERIOD).

I didn't understand most of it but "eye-popping" sure sounds promising (I think?) Bring it on!!!
