ive been told that they are going to auction off the sleds and give the money to the familys. and they are going to attemp to get the sleds out sunday, there is also a donation thing at wells fargo. only 2 died, christoph and jeremy R.I.P atleast they past doing something they loved

yeah got update Christoph was found and is on top of the snow, but they're coordinating an effort with the troopers to shoot some avy's down before we try a rescue effort for Christoph. Sounds like we are waiting for weather to clear. Hopefully he doesn't get covered up again so we can get him out asap. hate to have the families waiting for this long to see there lost one.

One of the friends was on KWHL this morning. They got Jeremys body yesterday, and know where Christoffs is. They have to wait because Christoffs is on a slope with a cornice above it. He said that they were working with the troops to blast the cornice to improve the saftey of the conditions so they can retrieve Christoff. Hats off to those guys, they are stand up in their efforts. We should all support their efforts to bring their friend home.

I hope I have friends like that.

And please keep us updated. I would like to ride, but I dont want to go up and over until they get the body out --- out of respect.

don't risk goin up over the top of turnagain right now, my buddies got jeremy out. they just got loaded up with alot more snow, way risky. I want to help get Christoph out and after that i am waiting for the avy's to come down, or the snow to settle. It is not worth it, and I don't think after this we need to risk anyone elses life.
We'll keep you updated on whats goin on, and if they shoot down any other avalanches.

i think it was friday or sturday the troopers blasted the mountain and got christoph out and today a whole bunch of people are going up and over to try and get the sleds out.

Yea yesterday they had like half the parking lot closed cause of the work they were doing. it seems like everything went well and everything but i didnt go even close to going over.

We went over today and it seemed fine. It looked like the troopers had dropped 6 charges and only one of them set off a slide, the other 5 just left craters in the snow. Our group just stayed low and jumped but some other people were highmarking all over the place and nothing slid. I personally still wouldn't climb anything right now.

No disrespect just want to learn......

I am very saddened to hear of the deaths of these 2 young men. I have went over all of the posts and I can't find whether either of the two were wearing beacons? I am wondering if there was any beacon searches? Everyone please be safe out there.

Yes everyone was wearing beacons. Just remember that just cause you have a beacon doenst mean its a get out for free card. Christoph and Jeremy were both wearing beacons and it still took 40 minutes to get them out.

so they did remove christoph?
what about the sleds?
i remember hearing stories of people stripping sleds that were left after an avalanche a few years ago & really hope nothing happened like that.

rip gentleman, prayers & thoughts to the families...

yes, both Jeremy & Christoph are home!:)

AK Hark, thanks for the info on the beacons. I agree they are not a "get out of jail free card" They have to be combined with good weather data, pit work, and knowledge. After all that you also need the guts to stay at home to ride another day. I have been tempted to go out a few days this year that I shouldn't have. Knowing these guys had one of the tools....beacons somehow makes it a little easier. Either way I am saddened by their deaths as well as other fellow riders this year.......Be safe out there.
