Thoughts on Aftermarket Throttle Blocks?

I recently installed these throttle blocks onto our sleds. They do not accommodate the TSS and instead use a bypass/delete. After seeing Bryce Cardinal's recent video, I began to doubt the safety of these devices and actually went back to stock. Was his incident a one off and would a TSS have helped in his case? I would really like to have a more open throttle block style to prevent ice build-up. Wondering if it would be better to use one that allows for the use of the factory TSS such as TKI or 3D Logik?

The TSS only will kill your sled in the event that when you start it, it is stuck at full throttle. That is my understanding and that is not what happened to Bryce‘s sled.
 
I stand corrected.

The throttle safety switch is designed to stop the engine whenever all pressure is removed from the throttle lever and the throttle cable or valves do not return to the normal closed position.

Now I have to go out to a sled and check this, but you would think that if your throttle is stuck after holding the sled wide-open, then there’s not gonna be the throttle cable to pull the flapper back in position so it is just sitting there flapping around and I don’t think the throttle safety switch would do anything.
 
100% agree and definitely always wear a tether without fail. I'm just not sure that would help if the throttle were to stick wide open in tight quarters while the rider is still on the machine.
 
All the well designed throttle blocks come with a slot for like-stock TSS functionality.

Becuase the TSS itself is a problem. I run a block on one of my sleds that accommodates the TSS and it sucks when installed. Eventually just ran a bypass and problem solved. Wear a tether always. Know when to bail. Don't the 2025s now no longer have a TSS?
 
TSS isn’t even present on the 25’s so even Polaris knows it was a **** fix to a problem. Also on my 22, the aftermarket block still incorporated TSS.
 
I always ran the TSS on my 22, 23, 24 in aftermarket throttle blocks without issue. Haven't heard of any, but indeed it's one more thing to go wrong.

The 25 throttle situation is miles better than previous.
 
Bryce ran out of talent I think. My Skinz throttle block has a provision for the TSS. I also have a TSS bypass in my avy bag if need be. I really wish Polaris did the throttle updates back in 22 with the introduction of the Matryx. Throttle cable icing up has been a issue for way to long.
 
I run the mvm block. The coating on it is slick and have had zero issues. I’ve always deleted the tss as well with zero issues.
 
I have experienced a stuck throttle several times with a stock throttle block (looking forward to see if 25' is better) I have never experienced a stuck open throttle with aftermarket throttle and tss delete. Ditch the stock throttle block, it sucks.
 
Isn't it true that neither Ski-Doo or Arctic Cat use a TSS either?
Ascender and catalyst have them. Cat doesn’t need a bypass, you can just unplug it. Im in the habit of flipping the throttle before I start it due to probably unwarranted paranoia about “deleting a safety device” lol

Edit: i say catalyst doesn’t need a bypass. Guess I will see if thats still the case when I try and start my sled next. Maybe I shoulda read the instructions :rolleyes::ROFLMAO:
