Thinking of ditching Barkbuster F.E.

What alternatives are out there? Hoping Zbroz has a kit soon.

Don't really like the T.S. set-up, handling is not great and tighter turning radius is detrimental in some conditions.

What have others tried?

Thanks

I'm with you bobcat not a big fan of the t.s it just depends on you riding style I think. Zbros have the shocks now and should have the front end any time thy were R.D it last winter so should be soon I hope. I herd it will only come in one width and that is wide

Supposedly 'stock' stance available also...but probably more in the 40" area...stock stance available for other sleds also.

GenII skis on a 43"+ stance would be a load.

ditch'em!!!!!!!

I ditched Timber Sled after 78 miles on my set
on a T-APEX

my deciding factor was not the performance or the tighter turning radius,or dropping 14lbs, it was costumer service, and I am here to tell you Allen from TSled has NONE!!!

I also didnt like the fact of the matter there isn't and or wasn't much T&D on the kit I got, I got close to 2400 miles on my stock a-arms with zero problems, before switching to TSLED, and they only go 78 miles ??!!!
the a-arms snapped going down the trail with about 3 foot moguls, maybe 4 foot mogals
I had to go back to stock , for the piss poor costumer service I got from Allen and crew at TSLED, I called him asap to get another a-arm to replace the broken one and a couple extra bushings to replace the ones that got alot of stress getting back to the truck,( I was a good 30 some miles from the truck when it broke) and Allen tells me to box up the whole kit and mail it to him

After 3 weeks in the heart of riding season, he tells me he isn't going to warranty the kit for it was installed wrong, so he says he will credit me for one good upper a-arm and bolts and credits me like 150.00 dollars for a 900.00 kit, for the salvagable parts and tells me sorry about your luck, but if it was installed right it still would be on your sled !!

Sorry dude ,I dont pay premium price to do T&D for a company and then get shaffted like that !

I dont recommend Timber Sled to anyone for anything ,because of the way I was treated ,.......PERIOD

Timber Sled can kiss my gritts!!!!!

and thats the bottom line cause IRONHIDE said SO!!!!!!
:beer;:beer;

I recommend Diamond S or Mountain performance
or wait for Nate to get his done @ Zbros

This is the FIRST post I have seen about TS that is less than stellar. I think you may need to re-read the letter from Allan, because if it was in fact installed wrong, how can you or anyone expect a company to back that??? Sounds like you messed up and are looking to blame someone else. He offered to credit you what parts were good, and did you take it?? Sorry, but this seems like a sob story rather than a legitimate complaint.

wfo, what color and condition is your BB front end? i am assuming it is for a fx nytro? might be interested in it for the right price. i can install it on the wifes fx nytro mtx. if it is for an apex, might have a buyer (grapeape) as well. ski

IronHide--- how did you install them and why did they think you installed them wrong? I know they broke but why?

Like I said T-Sled can kiss my gritts !!!!

you cant fit a round peg in a square hole ,
you cant put the a-arms on wrong or I cant see how to install wrong

the uppers are different from the bottoms

IronHide--- how did you install them and why did they think you installed them wrong? I know they broke but why?

Extreme one -

like I said ,you cant put a round peg in a square hole , I followed instructions to a 't' that came with the kit

the a-arms failed going thru the deep woops, atleast 3 foot woops , at 3/4 throttle, nothing less than what I would do with my stock a-arms on and or nothing less than what i do currently with stockers on with no problems

extreme one-

the bushings took a lickin getting back to the truck and or the other arms took a pretty good licking getting back to the truck, so the kit no doubt looked rough but the time I got the kit dissassembled and shipped to Allen, but it was NEVER installed wrong

I wasnt exactly taken it easy nor did I drop the hammer either getting back to the truck, just like no one eles does I wanted off the hill

I can't imagine how you could install them wrong.

I won't be selling the kit until I get a replacement as the stock set up is not good.

I may wait for zbroz since I had such good luck with them in the past.

The main things I've seen bend/break suspension components [in general] is binding and/or twisting of components through there full travel.
EVERY shock should come with heim joints. Along with radius rods (if applicable to the sled).

I went through alot of shocks and trailing arms on past sleds due to this fact...learned it the hard way...won't go through it again.

I installed my BBs with hiem'd shocks, expecially since I have a less-than-straight bulkhead.
It allows the shock to move and twist and not force other parts of the suspension to do so.

I think it was my grandma, but it might have been my mom, I'm not sure but I know one of them told me once if you can't say something nice about someone don't say anything at all.

So, not to argue just to share something positive. I have bought and installed 3 BB front ends on Apexes. I had one problem, and Alan had me snap a picture and send him. He looked at the picture and took full responsibility. Sent me new parts overnight and could not have treated me better. The other 2 kits have worked flawlessly for over 2500 miles.

You can please some of the people all of the time, and all the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time.

I dont buy the whole bad customer service I have had many dealings with allen at timbersled and by far he has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. He stands behind his product 1000 percent no questions. If he would not stand behind your front end then you obviously did something wrong. If he sells thousand of the same kit for the same sled and yours is the exception that breaks, to that extreme, I think I would start blaming the installer as well. I have not seen many complaints about Allen's products, for the money you pay they are unbeatable. You say you were hitting four foot moguls at 3/4 throttle, and you expected anything to hold up. I dont know what you have for power, but my sled will 60+ at 3/4 throttle sounds a little wreak-less to me, lucky you have any sled left, subframe..... I am fairly confident if everything was on the level that allen would have taken care of you. Sounds like you maybe are just trying to give one of the few good company’s a bad name.. My 2 cents :D:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

Iron hides front end was installed wrong . He had the a arms repowder coated white over red and the powder coat shop must have had to put alot of powder on so they didn't turn out pink so when he reinstalled the bushing with out cleaning the powder coat out of the ends of the tubes they must have went in very hard so when he drove the shaft in it nocked the first bushing all the way to the other side of the arm so after ride it very hard for 78 miles with no bushing in one side of the arm it destroyed them. It was very easy to tell what had happened sorry your so pissed off but you can't make everybody happy. Dale at Timbersled products.
