There must be something big for 2010

All I can say is with all the blowouts on Ski-doo's and Yamaha's there must be something BIG for 2010. Yes, I know the economy is bad, however with the DEEP discounts on 09's, BRP and Yamaha must want dealers inventory reduced to make room for the bigger and better sled. Me, I'm not holding my breath however I am cautiously optimistic. You must admit that all the big four are making huge strides in technology. You have to wonder how they can do it though with selling only 165,000 sleds world wide a year. If the big three auto makers did that they'ed go broke. Oh wait, they are.:D

What I heard is that a lot of the cheap skidoos around are dealers that bought up other dealers that went out of business stock up at a cheap price. Just hear say though.

I would believe that. Economy has hurt alot of businesses, especially smaller dealers that really couldn't afford to take any kind of hit. Hope the larger ones can weather the economy. Unfortunately this is going to have lasting effects. The guys that can afford it are buying now cheap and that just means sled prices go up on new but trade- in's won't be worth much in the near future.

Absolutely.....until the market balances itself out, and jobs and money return to the masses, we will have a declining market. I'm glad I've got a sled that will last me, because not only can I NOT afford to buy a new one right now, I couldn't afford to sell the one I have. Time will tell, and time will heal, but it's gonna get nasty for awhile.

Must be something big coming from the auto makers as well, oh and don't forget the arlines must be coming with something big cause both these industries are offering the biggest rebates in history. Most all non necessary items are discounted right now, look at everything. Boats, atv's, rv's, etc.

Get a clue, the economy is in the tank and everyone is doing whatever needs to be done to move product and generate cash flow.

I heard from someone on the inside that the dealers were able to buy remaining stock from BRP with a 20% below dealers cost, that is were the inventory is coming from....

AtV's too

It's not only bad for sleds, but atv's as well. I've worked in sales of both sleds and atv's; Honda absolutely never offers any discounts or rebates. I just bought my daughter a brand new Honda 250TRX atv for $2648 out the door!!! That's $1800 less than retail. When Honda starts slashing prices that deep and offering $500 rebates you know the economy is bad!

Seeder, don't ya think just maybe the 2010's were under development before the economy went in the tubes?? Maybe even up to 5 years prior to release? Sled production doesn't stop because fewer people are buying. However good business practice suggests you still give the consumer an attractive product, you just build fewer. Any one of the sled makers doesn't want to just put out last years product with BNG's. It's more imperitive than ever to offer something that people will come into the showroom and buy. Not everyone is broke. Yes, sled makers must help out there dealer networks and offer incentives, however you do that prior to the introduction of a new product as well. And yes, there will be NEW products for 2010, not just BNG's. I understand a little about business as a former business owner.

BRP is putting a lot of pressure on dealers to take 2010 sleds. Looks like BRP wants to share the pain when sleds don't sell next year because of the economy.

if you ask me the price has been getting WAY out of hand. when you can buy a new car that has a TON of more advanced technology and hardware for less than a sled i think somewhere something has gone very wrong. after spending decades with no advancement, remember buying brand new polaris sleds in the late 90's my wifes 86 230 quad had better suspension!!! laughed for years at how far behind snowmobiles were! in the 2000's they finally decided to actually do some research and start advancing thier technology, and charging out the buns for it!!!

Don't hold your breath dude! With the economy the way that it is, a manufacturer would be incredibly stupid to put a bunch of money into launching a new chassis, motor etc... you will see what they currently have available with tweeks that they can do with minimal cost (i.e. different available engine in the XP chassis and new graphics).

All the good (and more expensive) concepts will be launched in the next couple of years... until peeps can afford a $15,000 toy again!

As a former business owner than I am sure that you will understand that even if the product is "new" and "appealing" to the consumer it doesn't mean that they will buy it if there is no snow to ride or if the funds are not available to purchase.

I agree with you in the fact that the production numbers need to be limited in oder to make the product more appealing but that doesn't change the fact that consumers have not been buying like previous years and also now consumers are looking into more of a "value" over "new and improved". With this being fact it would be unwise for a new product to be realesed with so many discounted models available.
