So after all the hype on the 800's here is the verdict. I own all three.
07 800 Doo- The track is a 151" changed from the trencher to powder max.
No engine work has been done just holz rear skid, clutching, venting, and hps can. This sled is unstoppable.
08 800 Doo- Track is 154". No engine work, just venting and hps can and what clutching we could do with POS secondary.
08 800 Polaris- Track 155". No engine work, Holz front and rear, Slp can, venting, and little clutch work.
The 07 Doo will highmark in any snow condition and it is not even close. The Holz rear skid definetly lightens it up and makes it much more rideable over bumps and keeps it on top of the snow, but even our other 07 with no Holz will highmark the other 2 easily. The clutches stay cool all day and have went 1500 miles on 2 belts.
The 08 Doo is a better feeling sled over the bumps and sidehills with ease.
We have clutched it every which way and vented it and the clutches still get to hot and power fade on long pulls. The track speed according to the gauge is pretty good and close to the 07 but the ergonomics or were the weight is located doesn't allow it to float on top, even with the lighter weight. We haven't had problems blowing belts so that is a plus.
Just dissapointed with all the hype and it won't out climb our 07's. That being said it is a blast to ride.
08 Polaris is the best chassis of them all, it is effort less to ride in all conditions and handles the bumps with ease. It cuts an unbelievable sidehill like no sled i have ever riden. It has no vibration whatsoever!!. Clutch heat is not a problem and doesn't fade at all. The problem is that you have to sidehill to get were the doo's go straight up and over. That being said there is more potential in this sled, it just isn't getting the power to the track, yet!! Slp pipe on the way and more tinkering with the clutches. Don't know if it will ever get to the Doo's without engine work, although i hope it does because it is that fun to ride.
I'm not biased and always ride what is best. They are all great machines just wanted to give you highmark guys a piece of reality.
