the reality of the new xp like it or not

finally somebody clears up the, nate and 2 lbs of boost thing, people dont thoroughly read on this site sometimes haha. nate, did u buy and 06 for around 6 or 7 Gs then put a turbo on, also how much did that kit cost? 9200 sounds perfect for me.
sure the 06 m7 may not roll with an XP stock for stock, but who the hell cares and rides stockers? if its the same cost, why not build or buy a faster sled? come on guys!! its the smart thing to do!!
ps: all the manufacturers (sp) suck! minus yamaha, i only say that cuz our yammis last forever, my old phazer 2 with almost ten thousand miles finally seized up last week, cuz a girl was racing against another girl on the SRX haha but that says something bout the quality of build. i ride strictly cats, why? i dont really know lol... i just do.
although when i hit that creek with my mt cat, then the apex hit it and ruined the Aarms.... that was dissapointing, other than that lol never had a major yammie issue when riding with em.
and for everybody riding revs.. here in ak it jsut seems to be kids with shorty revs.. does that really count? but what the hell, i ride our summit more than my cat haha.

I must be retarded. I thought that "you're retarded" was the same as "you are retarded". So who's retarded Nate? You? Me? Hillary?

LMAO @ this thread

Ive seen more un-happy BRP owners on the mountain these last few years than the cat riders from 95'-01', and those were possible the worst sleds ever engineered

Damn :( I could have avoided that whole confrontation if I would have just put (1995-2001) :o bummer

It started a few posts back when you said I got "you're" wrong;) Wanna catch dinner and a movie tomorrow night? I'll drive:eek:

or the happiest???

I second that!!! Either ready to give up snowmbiling or so proud they make up a Fantasy Island!!!

I just don't get it. People either are lying about having no problems or just don't care about them. If a sled eats belts every 200-300 miles, that should be cause for concern in anyones book. A local dealer had 6 sleds with motor problems. Thing is, they were different issues on most of them. I don't doubt that there are some that work, but the majority seem to have problems.

Let me explain this to you, so you can understand it. Not all XP's are set up the same way. Do some have problems? yea, but it's not the majority of them. Are the problems fixable? yea, but who wants to have that come out of there pocket. Skidoo is working on the problems, but who know's when they'll be fixed. Are they replacing belts at no charge? Yes. I went riding with 3 M1000's this weekend, and every 1 of them have blown belts this year. 1 guy was on his 4th belt, with just under 1000 miles. He didn't seem to care, because he was having so much fun on it. That's how most XP owners feel, and there not paying for the belts there going through. I had 400 miles of powder riding before I saw a cord coming out. Cut it off, and rode another 30 miles, and told my dealer about it the next day, and he told me to give it to them, and he would have it replaced for me. Gave me the 377 belt to try out. The fun factor of this sled is defiantly worth a few headaches. IMHO! Also rode with an 08 Dragon this weekend, and while it was a very fun sled to ride, and he loved it, he was a little upset with a few of the issues he's been having with it.

my 146" xp has eaten three belts, all were the 166. switched to the 288 and it's doing better, just about 200 miles so far on it compared to around 60 miles on the 166's before they started pulling cords (all were replaced for free). replaced right handwarmer (warranty), plug welded my driveshaft (just because), changed gearing to 19/45, changed primary spring and added weight, modified the intake so it wouldn't bog in the powder snow....I guess when you write it all down, it does look bad...lol. but she hauls the mail and is a gas to ride. I'm happy with it....oh, and it was $13,300 cdn not including tax.

I don't doubt that they rip. Just wondering why everyone thinks that it is OK to have so many problems with a sled? I understand that they will warranty things when they break, but who likes having their sled sit at a dealer rather than be out riding it?

Do you honestly believe that a manufacture should be able to put out a completely new sled, that pushes the limits like nobody has ever done, and not have 1 issue? They could test it for 10 years, and until they put into the peoples hands that ride the terrain we do, they'll never know of all the issues. At least there taking care of them at no charge to us. So far I'm yet to miss 1 weekend, because of breakdown, and have yet to be towed out. There's no company out there that's put out a flawless sled, like we'd all like. It's just not reality. I know people with every brand of sled, and there all having problems of some sort. Some not as many as others, but that's besides the fact. Granite you hear of all of the XP problems, because there's more XP's out there than all other brands put together. If your just goin by numbers, I guarantee there's more good running XP's out there than any other 08 sled.

my dealer allows me to do the majority of my warranty work on my own, I spend most of my free time hangin' around there anyways...lol. he gets paid for it, I don't have to wait for my sled...win-win.

I haven't owned a snowmobile yet that hasn't required some kind of tweakology to get it to my liking, I love doing it, and helping out others that don't know how. I guess I could just sit at the 'puter and b!tch about it, but why?

glad it works for you, but I do not want to spend most of my free time hangin' around there fugg that!

you can add broken throttle cable and running boards to the XP list.

FYI for the throttle cable to be replaced you have to pull the engine on the XP... WTF BRP? Cost my buddy 2 days riding. When he got it back he was so pissed he missed 2 days riding that he launched a 120' kicker and upon landing it pushed his food down through the running board...

after bombing some cliffs on my xp the running boards are tweaked, and im really worried about putting my foot through the running board...

I personally feel the 800r motor is fantastic. I love the way the sled (xp) handles off a cliff, but will keep my polaris through the trees or climbing any day of the week... and twice on Saturdays...

Why would you buy a sled when you know they have motor issues? The only reason I can think of is lack of information. People still buy 900 Polaris' after all. Just because some manufacturer claims this is the best sled ever, doesn't make it true. Kind of like their head to head comparison DVD they sent out. I don't want to buy a sled and be the R&D guinnea pig for the manufacturer. Rotax motors used to be some of the best out there (670). What happened? The life span of the 800 motors has diminished severely. BRP should have adressed the issues instead of putting the same ****e motor in a new, thinner wrapper.

Phatty, for the drops you guys are doing, your going to need some 1/4" steel reinforcement kits. 120' drops, jezuz. Now you got me looking forward to Boondockers 5.

I don't know many sleds that hold up too well for that either Chubs. How have your running boards been holding up? Do the bigger guys out there have problems bending theirs?
