The Get your FIX for the RMK 800

Thread Rating
5.00 star(s)
Using the cheap injex.
It was 18$ a gallon which was a smoking deal.

Switched from dominator, I guess I believe Indy dans write up in the "cranking my 900" thread.

USE Polaris Sytheitic Blend its only $25 bulk

I am about to install my "fix" what are you guys using for break-in oil

We would not recomend using the injex that stuff is not the greatest oil!
we would recomend the Polaris "Blue" Synthetic Blend oil

Injex has the same certification as Polaris blue. But lets not turn this into another oil thread.

The reality is this certification is not a snowmobile specific certification. TC-W3 is a marine engine certification conducted on 15 hp mercury and yamaha engines. It is a standard to which all can be compared to though. The snowmobile manufacturers have real world data conducted on your specific engine and will be more accurate. This is not another oil thread, we simply were answering a question about the kits we sell for MTNTK and gave their recommendation for oil. If you choose to listen to someone else that is your choice.
We are glad you are happy with the The Fix kit, and thanks for all your imput on the matter.

well finally got to do a squish test on my kit and it had 6 thousands and with my 08 head it has 140 lbs of compression, this sled flat out rips now.I have 350 miles on it so far mix 1oz of oil to every gallon of gas only run 91 also.talked to the guys at pms and and they said everything sounds great as long as it is running strong not to mess with it.I really like how the 08 head works with my slp pipe also.Love the sled now

Dragon melt down

My dragon went down yesterday. The right piston stuck. The spark plug has aluminum on it and also the gap in the plug tight. I had just put new plugs in that morning and checked the gap on both plugs. The sled ran good all day and in the middle of a surf turn under full throttle it just bogged and stopped. how do I get the piston loose from the cylinder? Will I be able to get the cylinders honed and install the fix? My sled is an 08 800 with a 2010 complete engine. This is the 4th melt down since new. I have been running the PCV all year with it tuned by an auto tuner. It has been running real strong all year. Please let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like something came loose like the cylinder skirt or the piston skirt and came up thru your ports. Give the cases a good look for damage and look for damage to the edges of your ports. Good luck.......

I added 3 gallons of vp 110 leaded race gas, what a difference!!!!!!

Sled had it best day ever yesterday, ZERO DETO, not 1 miss or hiccup.

I'm sure you mean 60 thousandths, right? (.060" NOT .006"))

After 300 miles my 08 d8 with the fix and pcv is running better than ever. pulled 8100 in the bighorns a few weeks ago with 10-60's in it and never hesitated once.

Tore an exhaust bellow and that scared me with the drop in wot rpm but figured it out right when you see everything covered in exhaust spooge. Ran perfect once again after changing that out.

Pistons still look brand new when looking down the ev holes. :high5:

Well reading how everybody is happy and i have been doing a lot talking with Harry my summer project is The Fix, power addiction head 13.5.1 going with 09 mapping and keep running the PC5 looking for a slp single pipe i have a hps can. any more advice.:face-icon-small-ton

I never looked at that lol. Now that everyone is informed there will be less rebuild and explode episodes!

Enjoy having smooth, score free pistons for all next year!

I added lubrication holes to the small area between the main and auxiliary exhaust ports.

Where have you seen this mod before and how does it work?

Did you have to file the rings and what was the final clearance.

Awesome piston mod! I've used Swain top/side coating before with good results in a mod sled.

I got the idea from Gus Bohne and the wiseco instruction manual shows how to drill the holes if your engine has a center exhaust bridge. I just did the same thing except for the auxillary exhaust ports. Gus does this to his Wisecos and has a rev at 36lbs for short bursts-so I think it may work! The holes hold oil and cool/lubricate this high load area.

My rings were initially about .018" and .004 skirt clearance. I set the rings to .022" and skirts to .005".
