Thanksgiving....I applaud Tj Max, Marshals and home goods

I just seen their commercial stating they will NOT be open on Thanksgiving so their employees can be with family. I wish more stores would follow this example and not the money. Good for these guys. I know my business will be going their direction..

I couldn't agree more I hope everyone has a wonderful start to the holiday season and can enjoy Thanksgiving with those people who are important in their lives.

Everybody that works for me gets Friday off too but I'm in manufacturing not retail. Happy employees are good employees, and no one wants to work on Friday so give them the day off.

My thoughts on all of the shopping nonsense is that people are going to spend the same amount of money on Christmas. So why does it matter if you get it on Thursday or Friday. The banks are closed on Thursday so you can't deposit it and draw another days interest so why do it?

I just heard last night that K-Mart is open all Thanksgiving and Christmas day. Not that I ever shop there but, I think I will just boycott them 365 24/7.

Counterpoint:

What if you are from a small rural town with very limited local shopping opportunity?
Let's say you happen to be visiting family in a larger city for Thanksgiving.
What is wrong with slipping out for a few hours and getting some shopping done while you are in town?

What are we supposed to do?
Sit around all afternoon holding hands and singing thanksgiving carols?
You know damned well most of us were sleeping in front of the tv with football on while the women were cleaning up from the feast.

Heck, they would prefer we got out of the house for awhile so they could turn the channel to "not football".

And if they want to get out for a few hours, I think they have earned that after the feast they just put on.

At 18 I worked a Thanksgiving for $3.35 an hour.
Wasn't given the option, was just told to.
I didn't complain, I was thankful to have a job.
That's what has changed, people think they are owed this day off & that day off and so on.
Well guess what, you ain't owed squat!
Do your damned job.
Shut your damned mouth.
Be an adult and EARN your own damned way!

Happy Thanksgiving!
