Thanks for the fun while it lasted DOO.

I switched over to Ski Doo last year and had a great year with my new XP. First ride out 5 weeks ago my clutch imploded. It was technically out of warranty by about 3 weeks. Ski Doo graciously covered it and my dealer readily worked on it...no problems at all! Unfortunately 5 weeks later I am STILL waiting for clutch components, this is un-acceptable as 5 weeks equals 10 to 15 rides for me, including Christmas and New Years special family rides. If it is not important enough for a major player in the snow industry to have parts readily available to their dealers within a week, then it is not important enough for me to stay with DOO. The product is good, and I HAVE dealt with problems and remained understanding (i.e 2 blown belts per trip adding up to numerous warrantied belts), but storing my sled at the dealers shop for an undetermined length of time during winter is BS. Warranty is great, but amounts to a hill of beans if spare parts are not at the dealer or sitting in a supply warehouse at the manufacture waiting to be shipped.
I work in a major repair facility and am well versed in back ordered parts for sure! 5 weeks for my shop even (whom I thought was awful with B/O parts) is down right pitiful! I am also very suprised in the lack of dealer to dealer co-operation there is in the entire recreational vehicle industry. It is as if each dealer is on there own island, playing KING OF THE HILL to even dealers that sell like for like product. Instead of promoting and maintaining the brand of vehicle world wide, sourcing parts and information from all dealers as a network, they only rely on the Mothership. I guess that is an entirely different conversation though....
I guess I am gonna have to have a few more beverages and cool my heels, cheers to yall...:beer;:beer;:beer;

I feel your pain ! I switched back to Doo this year ,after 9 years with Cat, My sled has now been sitting at the BRP dealer for 2 months, waiting on 12 hrs of work, needless to say, " I'm out too " I may have had some reliability issues with Cat, but customer service was never as bad as the Brp dealer in our area.

My buddy's xp primary came completly apart on dec 28th. Took it in to local doo dealer on the 29th. He needed a complete new primary. Picked it up today.
What do you need?

Find out the exact part #'s you need from your dealer and then start calling dealers until you find what you need. My 900 blew a motor and the dealer was busting butt trying to get it back together for a special ride. Of all things, the water pump seal and bearing were on nationwide backorder. I live in oregon and I called until I found parts in Wyoming, that my dealer said no one had. Had my dealer overnight them. I know you should not have to do there leg work, but if it gets you back on the snow its worth it.

Talked to Buddy today, He ordered a crank for his 700 2 weeks ago , they made an appointment for him to bring his motor in yesterday, he brought it in at the specified time, to find out they forgot about the appointment, funny part is, they also forgot to order the crank !!! makes me wonder how these outfits stay in business

Toasted motor too

Took my sled out on the First ride of the year at St Helans, Epic day mind you.

I made it 13 miles....

I guess I twisted the crank.... Oops...

They told me the timing is off only 80 degrees. I guess that could cause the problem.

The stop watch is on, we shall see how long it takes.

I will check with dealer on monday on what the part number is I am waiting for, it is a clutch bushing and I am also waiting for a side panel too since my clutch blew a hole in the side panel when it exploded. I am told that the part will be here monday??? Again I have nothing bad to say about the product and completely understand problems, but this is too much. In my business we track work in progress/ work in pricing, it is unacceptable to have money on the table for so long (as in labor or parts purchase). When it becomes a problem, the issue is elevated to district managers. These problems are dealt with ASAP! I am sure I am only a small percentage of all those waiting on parts....Seriously, this is absolutely ridiculous! This manufacture charges a premium for their product, GET YOU S*** TOGATHER SKI DOO. Thank God for all the people on forums like this to save your azz. WOO SAA, better drink another.....:beer;:beer;

I have a spring tower cap with the bushing that I used for one day and a brand new bushing that goes inside the outer sheave. I am in meridian, ID.
I could send you the parts and you send me yours when they show up or you could buy these parts.
Hopefully your stuff shows up on monday.
It is unfortunate that I have a 400+ hp at the rear wheels gsxr 1000 street bike and it is more reliable then my stock xp. Almost feel like I have to have a spare engine, clutch, etc for my stock xp.
I can understand keeping every spare part I need to repair a engine on my drag bike, but not a stock snowmobile.
The season is too short to spend that much money on a snowmobile and then be down 5 weeks waiting for parts. :mad:
That is why I bought a xp last year. had a m7 with a big bore kit. first ride of the year last year and the plating flaked off of one of the cylinders. The other cylinder looked perfect so I only sent the one back to be plated. No questions asked cylinder was replated and new piston for free. I was down about 5 weeks and couldn't take it any more so I went and bought a new xp. Got the cylinder and piston back a week or two later and on the first ride with it the other cylinder flaked. :mad: Glad I got a new sled or I would have pretty much missed the whole season.
The place I got the big bore kit from was great. They did all they could and every thing was replaced for free. I would do business with them again. If I did a big bore again I am keeping the stock top end incase I have problems. Stock parts should be instock some where and easy to get.

Sounds like an issue with the dealer mostly.
If all they need is a bushing, they could call around, or take one off of a sled that isn't selling for the moment.

If you need side panels - I have one of each side - grey, and they have a vent kit on them. PM if needed.

Best of luck!

Agreed sounds like a LAZY, complacent:confused: dealer who takes the customer for granted.:mad: I feel very fortunate to have three dealers close by...with in a few hrs drive...most have what I need but two of them go the distance to make sure I am back sledding quick.:face-icon-small-hap Dino

It very well could be the dealer, I dont know. Thanks for all of your offers, if my dealer doesnt come through on monday I will look some of you up. I dont know what the rules are for removing parts off of new product to help out on parts delays. I have done it in my shop before and have got burned on it, so I can understand the hesitation to do it. Hope the snow comes back soon!

Sounds like you have plenty of offers out there to help you out. I would say that the majority of your issues resides with your dealer. Good luck!

Blew rod on mine on a Sat. Dropped it off on Monday, back together, running, on Friday. That's GREAT dealer support. Get a new dealer. I am lucky enough to have Xtrerme Powersports close to me.

Sure sounds like a sh!tty dealer to me. Our dealer in this area is a couple chicks selling acc., hoping a few local riders will come in and mech for them once in a while. They has 8 new sled orders in last fall with no mech to set them up, luckily the aforementioned guys came in to help them out. Haven't been there for awhile to see if they have found a mech yet, small shop, lot of marine business in spring-summer-fall. Need a few winters of snow like we're finally getting now to turn the sled business around the right way.

Yep, that would be me. Sounds like the dealer. My parts were ordered on January 5th and picked up sled on the 10th. My bushing also pulled out and pretty much destroyed everything.
