Tell me about Western WY - Alpine/Jackson/Togwotee

I would definitely NOT go to Alpine, for one specific reason...you might mess up my powder! Minnesota guy here too, but Alpine is my stomping grounds (My parents live there). I've had a few friends stay at Rockin' M and it's first class.

Best sledding in the country, but don't tell anyone...

Is a guide a good idea for the first time out or is it pretty easy to navigate for someone with mountain experience

It's easy to get around but there are SO MANY areas that I would get a guide to make sure you're not just going to spots that are already tracked up, especially if it hasnt snowed in a week or so, you wont be disappointed. The great thing about Alpine is that you can still find fresh snow if it hasnt snowed for 2+ weeks, without a guide you'll never find those areas your first time out.

Thanks for the tip! Is the Merry Piglet still open in Jackson? :face-icon-small-hap

I would highly recommend the rockinM. I have stayed there twice and Rob has always told us some great place to go ride. Driving from the east coast to ride he has always made the trip worth it.

It should be a good time. They are forecast a bunch of snow in the next few days too.

Can anyone comment on how to clutch my sled for Alpine?

Pin weight in or out?

Clicker on what #?

2014 XM and totally stock clutching. The dealer in Idaho Falls says to remove all pin weight and start on clicker 3, so that's the direction I think I'll take?

Sounds like a place to start..dealer in Thayne/Afton? One in Jackson see if there is a consensus and go with that.

Are you there yet??

I'll be there Saturday morning. Stopping for a ride in West Yellowstone on the way down.

I've got a stock 2014 XM and had to move my clutch to #2. Seemed to keep it around 8000 rpms in the Alpine, wy area. Didnt mess with pins or anything like that. Sled ran great.

dealer setup is removing all the pin weight and running on clicker 3 or so, call star valley skidoo and talk to mike or Del if you want more detailed info. (307) 883-2714
