12-14-13 first ride
went up to Tampico today. Got a good ride in , first ride on the new sled, and it rips! very little snow at the bottom, maybe an inch. about 2" at the next parking spot and 5 or 6 inches at tree phones. If we don't get anymore snow i would recommend parking at tree phones. Park any lower and there is a pretty bumpy ride on the snow covered gravel. pretty good coverage up on darland but still a lot of rock and bare spots showing. will be looking good with 2 more feet of snow.

Saw that one too, that was me on the sled at the bottom of the hill.
HAHAHA!!!! Way to tear it up WAmtnsledr! your turnouts made me nervous the entire time. I was wondering how long it would take you to do some ghost riding. I sure hope there will be some good snow coming over the next week up there

sure glad my sled didn't hit that tree at the bottom dead center. it would be pretty messed up!

New snow update
AS of noon, Friday 12/20/13 there is NO new snow
at the snopark level. It was around 38F with intermittent rain showers. The forecasts for the next 2 weeks look absolutely crapola. I will update when we finally do get some new snow. I have not checked the Green Lake site, but feel that they should be getting some new stuff above the Tree Phones level.
Bottom line, the 2-4 inches of new snow for down low did not happen...

Update!!! It's now 8:30 p.m. and......wait for it.......wait for it.....36 degrees and pouring rain...
At 9:30 white pass.
Light snow. Traction tires required and chains required on rigs over 10,000 lb gross. 3-4in + above 6k.
It could turn to rain overnight though.
I'll be riding Tampico tomorrow even if it is slushy. I need to get some miles on.

ICE - Roads hazardous
North Fork Rd this evening was extremely icy. Our son with little red jeep spun and went off at the 5 mile mark by the quarry. The temps are in the upper 30's on top of .5" of ice on the road. I imagine the road up middle fork may be treacherous in the morning. Please travel with care. We removed numerous nuggets (some 1' in diameter) off of the road, also.
We will fix the fence on Monday, gotta admit little red cherokee backed right out of the barpit; awesome little rigs. Bumper is running out of lives, though!

I will see you up there if you still decide to go on the 24th. My wife and I will be finally breaking in this seasons first run. Went up on the 21st with the Durango, nothing but ice up to tree phones.
Went up to Tree phones and unloaded on the 24th and 25th. Beautiful day for riding!
