T3 Killer

Just spent the weekend in Whistler. Absolutely bottomless snow. All very good riders of equal skill. I was the only Polaris (Axys 163 3") all the rest were XM's. Most T3 163 and one 174. My sled is still bone stock right now. Some of the doo's had exhaust/pipe, but they were mostly stock. Boy did the Axys kill them! When the snow was less deep earlier this season it was difficult to tell who had the edge, but in chest deep fresh it was no contest. Breaking trail up into the alpine it was dramatic. The doo would make it about %25 up a hill that I would walk all the way over. Then they'd have to poach my tracks to get up. I was really shocked. One steep ravine in particular (1/2 mile long) they could only side hill down. I would side hill fresh tracks all the way up and out. Polaris nailed it on this one. Doo has some catching up to do. Pretty stoked. Felt really good to be the only Polaris. The thing worked so good the Canadian Doo guys were all complimenting it and asking how the heck I did that. Almost don't want to install my turbo just for bragging rights. Almost... :face-icon-small-hap

heard a similar story from a local polaris rider.

then i was talking to a buddy who riders doo and he said he was still spanking the polaris riders lol

Funny how that works. Go over to doo on t3 154 and one of the guys said t3 174 and 163 3 inch axys are even. That is a huge feat because my wife had a t3 174. He is a doo rider and from my following he is one of very few unbiased riders on here.

Surely you have video to back up this statement. You are claiming that the poo will climb 75% higher than the doo or for that matter any other sled. Any body that has been in the snowmobile world for any extended period knows that this is not the case.

Nope not biased. I ride doo too. As well as everyone I ride with. I was the only poo on the mountain and it wasn't even close. Three of the guys on 163 T3's are better riders than me too. And two of those were piped. And yes the best rider in our group 163 T3 made it about 1/4 way up the last hill before the alpine and I blew right over the top. I don't care if you don't believe me. All the other guys on the mountain got to see it first hand all day long.

Seems the report varies. really fluffy snow the Polaris shines, heavy snow the doo does as well or better has been my take on the different reports

Interesting cause I went pull for pull with a T3 154 in 2ft of light pow up a mild climb. We were dead even. Guy on the T3 is 30lbs heavier than me. I was only pulling 8100rpm at the time though and his rpm's were dead on. My sled pulls harder at 8300, so after some clutching I'm sure I'll be ahead.

I rode with a T3 174 last week, he had a can. I was on AXYS 163 2.6
With SLP pipe, can and clutching. we were dead even climbing in 3' light pow. We took turns trying
Different lines on the same slope, when tracks were side by side and forced to turn out we were in the same spot or very close nearly every time. Both sleds are so capable it comes down to what each of us enjoys riding the most. We are all fortunate that we are having this debate as we now have great sleds to choose from for our mountain addiction.

Have yet to see the total Polaris Domination that you speak of but have seen the flickable Axys in action, it will flick those skies and spindles right off
on impact that other sleds go over.
Currently ride a 174 T3 and a 163 both with 872 Trygstad big bores, not brand loyal as I have rode cats from the early 80's thru the late 2000's, a couple turbo Yamis and now onto Doo and currently looking at the Axys to see if they are
truly any better than a properly setup Pro

Thank god you are here to defend your beloved Doo!

Is everyone drinking the coolaid that klpilot is making. T3 killer lol!
It's funny because I ride and own both and although the Axys is a great sled it Will Not Outclimb a 174! We have many of both in our riding group(and in my trailer). Maybe my results r different at 9,000 plus ft? Not taking away from the Axys because I love to ride it but when someone says it will climb 75% higher than a T3 174 or 163 for that matter just makes me laugh.

I ride with three T3's, all 174's. They are tuned in pretty good at this point, one of them has a bunch of weight taken off with a lexan hood, panels, and headlight delete. My 163x3 has a SLP pipe/can and I've been messing with clutching on every ride. I can out climb the 2 stock T3's but not the light weight one. BUT, last weekend I was down about 250-300 rpm. This coming week should be a better test. Eric

If a 163 axys will even climb dead even with a t3 174 then Polaris has killed it. I had a 15 174 and that thing was insane for a stock sled. I will have to see it for myself. I do know that the 174 still drags it's fat boards and body in deep snow but Crack it open and the track over powers it. The shorter they are the worse they are. The shorter the sled the more fun so Polaris has killed them there. It also mutes out doo's 16 inch track. That is why they don't sidehill and had to go 36, t-motion, and flex edge. The only thing doo has on them now is a better ride on the trail. The doo front end is about as fragile as they come. Polaris is definitely heading in the right direction. I thought doo was in 2003.5 with the rev until I rode a cat in the trees. I then realized how awful the revs were. They did have more power but it's easy to remedy that it is not easy to remedy a crappy chassis. That is why you see all these guys throwing thousands on air locs and lightweight hoods and narrow bodies to try and equal what the axys has stock. Skidoo has an awesome sled but,for me, they need to start over.

Rode a 155 2.6 all afternoon and I will say...man that is an aggressive sled. Power hits very fast, gains and loses rpm lightning fast on/off throttle, and wants you to push it hard in carves/sidehills. A t3 or a pro for that matter is still a capable sled, but it's movements, transitions and throttle response are in slow motion compared to this thing. And I have a pro I reaally like. Things happen faster tho, and if you try to ride it like a pro right off the bat, you'll be over riding it and get behind it.

I can't tell you what will outclimb what, cause it wasn't that kinda day, but I will say with no reservation that this thing is the most aggressive sled on the market hands down, not even a comparison. There is a ton of capability in there, and if you can't lay it down with any stock sled on the market...it's not the sled...its you. A lifted pro with new plastic it is not. I think it will actually be a bit much for the novice crowd, and they may do better to start on a pro. But it's a riot.

Had a 3" assault there too...3" track and chaincase mellow out the snap and rpm gain/loss a bit...so that's a consideration. I had more fun on the 2.6, but that's just me and the wider stance and different suspension was likely a factor handling wise.

Have been on skidoo since 2011, have yet to bend or brake any front end part to date, as for eating crow? A bent spindle is far better than a broke one, two skis to get you out instead of one and the other strapped to the tunnel.
Comical how some get so twisted when you don't agree with there spin!
