Stock Horsepower #

Sorry if this has been posted and discussed before, I musta missed it. I did a search and of course almost every post comes up because all my keywords must be in signatures as well as the threads and I don't have several days to look thru 2488 posts.
Anyway's I was asked by one of my buddies what the horsepower is on my new sled and I was stumped for the first time as I thought I'd read up on everything about the new sleds from the brochures from the dealer and have been able to answer off the top of my head.

I believe they state that the pros are about 154hp but i would give it an honest 145hp, There is no way it has even close to the skidoo or cat.

That being said .....I love my pro :face-icon-small-hap

Horse power is just a number they use for advertising. And if you dyno all of the brands on the same day on the same dyno there Is about a 5 hp difference. If there really was a 20 hp difference it's pretty bad that I can walk all over cats and doos with my pro. If like to see what the horsepower at the track is cause the pro has the best clutching and a beltdrive

When the cleanfire 800 first came out in '08, Polaris claimed 154 hp. They've made a few updates since then, (some for the good and others may have lost power), they now claim 150+ hp. cat & doo both claim over 160 hp. dyno shops have shown the 800 cfi2 motor to put out about 145ish, while the cat and doo are 160ish. However the Polaris does have better, more efficient clutching, the new belt drive, and just plain puts more horsepower to the ground. Then you add in the 50 lb weight advantage and you can see why the Polaris 800 kills the competition, even though it has "less power".

Last years put out 150 brand new at the old forge shoot out. DTR also has shown various year's all right around 145-150 stock and 154 with a PCV. I heard that Bikeman ran the new 6 at 131 ??

the cat is far from being stronger

my assault eats any stock cat!! any stock sled ive come accross
they seen nothing but the tail light of my assault

took the 1100 turbo over 800ft to catch me

cat only has more options to do things for performance

Tell your buddy it has plenty of power to go places that most riders wouldnt even attempt.

Nuff' said

Can't wait to see this thread go ugly.

Currrent 800 motor makes the same power as a good working 700 rmk from 1997, difference is the chassis it's the best out there.

I think the 145 number is pretty close. With tuning and good fuel a reliable 150 is very realistic. Less than Doo and Cat for sure but the weight and drivetrain should make the playing field about even.........hopefully

97 700 RMK was 120hp, you blankety blank. That is as ugly as I can get. :face-icon-small-hap

This is how I feel about horsepower threads.

A man was in his front yard mowing grass when his attractive blonde neighbor came out of the house and went straight to the mailbox. She opened it then slammed it shut and stormed back into the house. A little later she came out of her house again, went to the mailbox and again opened it, and slammed it shut again. Angrily, back into the house she went.

As the man was getting ready to edge the lawn, she came out again, marched to the mailbox, opened it and then slammed it closed harder than ever.

Puzzled by her actions the man asked her, "Is something wrong?"

To which she replied, "There certainly is!"

My stupid computer keeps saying, "You've got mail!"

120 out of the crate and heavily detuned. Better described a 97 700 with twin pipes, reeds and a head made the same power as a stock 800. Pulls the same primary weights 16 years later. To put in perspective what an epic fail Polaris has had with their motor program compare a late nineties doo or cat twin to current. Doo was a 117 hp 670 and cat was probably less with their 700, both are now 164? Yes this has been beat to death but the truth doesn't change.

I just don't feel the difference between the cat and the poo. Maybe it's the clutching? Maybe it's the way I ride? Maybe it's the weight difference? Maybe it the way a pro gets on top of the snow? Maybe it's because the cats clutches and belt gets nuclear hot after 3 minutes? You can talk dyno #s all you want it still comes down to how it's put to the snow.
