well sled is down for a bit, the snow is nothing to brag about and the bike is just sitting looking for some attention. considering snow sucks on the hills, was wondering if the dunes were mostly dry or covered.

anyone?:whip:

The dunes are pretty much covered, some south and west facing are kinda bare though. We hit about 40-41 deg today though so may have bared off a little more. You can only ride the small dunes , the northeast part and they always have more snow cause they're shielded from sun more cause of the junipers hills. Not saying you couldnt ride, just might be a little tough on a bike.

Dunes are closed this time of year for Elk Winter Grounds. I would recommend not making the trip as you might get a big fine that may not be worth the trip. Just a fair warning...

MISDEMEANOR

It is a Misdemeanor to intrude on the elk wintering range. Egin Hamer Road north along the Red Road up toward Kilgore.
This covers pretty much all of the dunes.

It isn't just a $50 -$100 fine. It can be big fine and Jail time.

Not worth trying.

The small dunes from Crapo's hill to the end of the dunes running northeast past sand hills resort are open year round. Just dont go west of Crapo's or anything east of the red road, its posted "NO HUMAN ENTRY" until april or may. BLM has sign and maps posted at egin lakes access or the red parking lot on red road just past sand hills resort. Also like was posted dont go south of egin hamer road or off edge of sands on desert or junipers or east of red road. After todays snow a bike wont work anyway!

There is PLENTY of space to go and play in mid winter.

Thanks for putting that up Christopher! That is exactly the map I was trying to explain, I'm just not computer savvy enough to post it up!!!

In the winter I play in Island Park.
In the summer I play at the dunes.

Those are my two playground! :face-icon-small-coo

My pleasure sir.
I have always dreamed of an EARLY HEAVY snow so that we could take the sleds and ride the BIG DUNES.

No snow left on dunes. Has been raining off and on all day. Will be epic traction on the sand.Just bring a coat, windy and chilly.

Snow is gay?

Why don't you join the rest of the modern world and at minimum use the word ghey.

I'm not a homosexual, nor am I a closed minded hillbilly though. C'mon kid

Using the word gay like you did is no better than dropping an N bomb these days

You may be GAY and struggling to deal with it. And yes, I am a closed minded hillbilly.
