Spun my 2nd set of Avids WTF????

Yep. Derrick called. The inside of the drivers are now round!!

Yep big thanks to team orange for the train up the hill!!! I need all of your guys names/forum names so I can thank everybody!

My guess is that when the track is ratcheting the drivers have a chance to build up some momentum with no load on them and then when the skid tensions up the drivers, whammo. Kinda like revving the living $hit out of your truck then slamming it into drive.

Possibly not drivers but a friend has an 08 40th Apex, same tunnel as you, same EZ ride suspension, running a camo extreme track, avids with Brad Story's propane system set at 26+ lbs of boost and no problems. Hasn't touched his track tension sense the first ride. Not sure how many miles he has on it now but it is flat out scary how fast that thing is and where it will go. He is far from easy on it either... launched it off a big roller going way fast and bent the tunnel just above the front mounting holes on the tunnel... bent everything back and reinforced it and all is good... Hope you get it figured out...:)

26lbs of boost!! Does he ride with it up that high all the time? Is there a power difference in propane boost and race fuel boost or what? I couldn't imagine boondocking with that much boost!

If you ever get stuck in presidents bowl again you can go out the bottom to the left side where I had to that drops you down to kachess road or you could spend 4 hours diging out the right side when it,s blow inn.

Super Bowl I believe...Presidents is on the south side of the ridge that divides the two...

Is it safe enough to drop down to kachess without brakes?...never been down to that end

Everyone that lives/ has a place at kachess calls it president bowl we should make sighns up this summer and post them so we all are on the same page . :beer; I went down that way with no brakes when mine spun I made it but it was toughf but I was at the road in 10 min .

Ok,,,,before you put another set of ****king drivers on on,lift the back of the sled up in the air,put the very back of the track on a milk crate or something and push down ,see what happens. My guess is you will see the front of the skid pull the track away from the drivers,,,and that is what's causing,,, driver failure

He was running at 14-16 lbs of boost for a while and then went up to 26+ due to some issues with the waste gate. Once he got it fixed and clutched for the boost he left it there. The sled was built to run this and he figures 400+ hp. Brad had his above that last year, not sure exactly how high. All I can say is it takes a good rider to handle that much power in the trees.

Linc, I think your right about that. We did do exactly what you describe and the eye opener is that the track gets tons of slack in it when fully compressed. I have been running with nearly zero track sag and when you fully collapse the skid it has 1 1/4 inch -1 1/2 of slack. This is with the front shock still at full extension and the back at full compression.

Interesting. The rails slide back as the skid compresses but it is not taking up all the slack that is created.

I would love to make this skid work but I have 40 hours into it already and I can't be spinning out the drivers every 4th ride!!

Buying some M-10 parts today and will be placing an order for some of Chads rails this afternoon. Hopefully he has them in stock!!!
