ive done a couple of sleds just remove the heat element and wrap hockey tape on the bar between the element and bar..It helped with the heat and the loose grips and it was easy and not much cost

For me it was a have to situation ..my hands were always cold. . freezing .. have to stop and warm on on the motor. .. .ended up getting different warmers and corking the bars .. night and day difference. . .now the Pro is like my old Yammy that had the dial on it for the warmers and they'd get so hot I'd warm my coffee with'em. . ....and like said .. don't overthink it . .it's a pretty simple job and my grips haven't moved after reinstall .. just do it ..

You use Polaris hand-warmers part #'s 2412944 & 2412945.

The hand-warmers on the new Axys sleds are insulated and would be a a direct plug & play with your current sled. I don't know why Polaris isn't advertising this. Hopefully they'll be added to the '16 RMK as well.

Got a hold of some of these. They will not work on PROTaper bars. They are for the bent trail bars and will not fit our bars.

Sorry for the bad info. I'm quite disappointed it doesn't work.

Yeah the heating element goes out into the 'fingers' of heater so you can't cut it to fit.

The RSI heaters are similar as well.

Is the layering of cork over a chromoly bar needed compared to the aluminum Pro-Tapers? I did the wrap job on my aluminum bars which helped immensely, but am putting some chromoly pro-taper bars on the kids 440 and would just as soon wrap them now if it is needed.

I would say yes, especially for kids. I am doing the same for my kid's steel bars.

For 6 bucks you can get self adhesive cork 1/25 of an inch thick at Hobby Lobby and have enough to do 40 sleds. Did four last weekend with the methods described here and works great. The super thin cork makes it almost unnoticeable under the grip
