Spindles

Is Polaris replacing these? I saw a set at my dealer in December that sheared. Several Axys riders in my group and I haven't heard of anyone having that problem yet.

I just checked Source Innovations and Don't see an offset AXYS Mtn. Spindle with them either.

Anyone know of an offset spindle for the AXYS?

.

It is because we have have found that the AXYS handles better with the shorter offset spindles that were originally designed for the Pro-Ride chassis. This puts us in a awkward position as it is harder to convince guys that the shorter are better when they have it in their heads that Polaris must know best for the length. To go and just machine them because there is a market demand when I know first hand that I am not doing anyone a favor???

You forgot to mention.....
In your opinion....... :)

They better. I'll let you know when I hear how my friend fared at the local dealer. My guess is they'll tell him it's his fault.

Is anyone having issues with Axys spindles? Buddy got a brand new sled and it split in half within 2 miles on what looked like a harmless bump. The ski just sheared off with the bottom half of the spindle. No damage to anything else.

i have snapped off 2 spindels, 1500 km on my machine

Update: my buddy said that Polaris did warranty the spindles. Bad castings.

AH, bad castings . . . makes sense then why only a very few were having spindle breaking issues. I didn't hear of even one single case of broken spindles in this area.

Now that we know the reason some broke, I see no reason to put aftermarket spindles on as the stock ones are holding up VERY good. :)

But you can easily blame a bad casting. Saying "eh, we cheaped out on our extrusion standards and got sub par parts" doesn't sound nearly as good.

I have no proof, but I'd be willing to bet Polaris outsourced them to China or other foreign manufacturer and took for granted the unwritten things we do on this continent to insure quality. So Polaris did not provide full specifications. I'd like to think that most Extruders on this Continent would not let that happen. Most have a mass spec analyser that can identify the alloy prior to extruding and X-ray or at least weigh the raw ingots to check for voids.

I'd bet on that as well.
