South Bighorns

security cam, weather cam, snow depth cam, temp of cabin inside, But mainly cause I like it. You probably noticed it takes a pic every 10 minutes and saves them all.

Groomer is hired, grooming will continue as last year.

Hopefully, the state has a newer Tucker to pull the drag this year. Last year was a little tough on the already wore old Tucker snow cat. Is the operator a new person? Have they ever run a snow cat grooming trail before? It takes a newbie some time to hit the stride. It is not a picnic out there at night as so many people believe. The only rewards are the glory of the job as the pay is minimal ......:eek:

The groomer this year is a riding buddy of mine. He finished out the year last year after they had gone through 2 or 3 different guys. He did a pretty fair job considering the trails were neglected totally until around January. It's hard to make chicken salad out of chicken sh!t!! He is a very experienced groomer, and since he will be starting out the year, things should be very good this season...

given it ever snows.:rolleyes:

riding!

That's awesome that we have a groomer this year. My mom hated those rough trails last year!!

Has anyone rode up there yet, if so how is it!
Thanks. Im itchin to ride!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Ended up going up today, snow was suprisingly better then what I thought it would be. We ended up parking at babywagon parking lot and road up by powder river pass. The wind has blown a lot of the snow in the trees, so riding in the trees was pretty good. It is typical big horn snow with no base and you really have to watch for rocks. Also a warnig to everyone to get their stickers for the season. We hadn't got ours yet and ended up getting a warning. When we got back to the parking lot there was a forest ranger waiting.

yeah, we caught him in a good mood, i think he thought we were crazy for riding this early! I guess the fine is $175 per sled. Honestly in the trees where it had blown in there was 2-3 feet. Other places maybe around a foot, foot and a half?? It got better the higher up we went.

Meadowlark/Deer Haven sucks donkey dung...

Personally I hope those lodges stay closed for the sake of everyone else that might have to stay there. We stayed there last year and the gas pumps quit on the 3rd day...they said they made a call and we told them that doesn't put gas in the sleds but they didn't really care. The heat in the room stayed on high the entire time we were there and it never got above 68 degrees. They also neglected to mention that the cleaning people had mondays off, so we didn't get new towels, which wouldn't have been a problem had they told us. I could go on and on, but long story short if I had the time and they were open this year I would sit out front with a sign telling people to avoid at all costs, the owner was an a-hole who didn't care if we had a good time or not, and the manager was a moran. Maybe if they could get an owner who cared even a little bit, or management with an iq above retard level things would be better, but until then I won't go near the place even for gas or food, I wouldn't even send my mother in law to stay there it was so bad. Rant over...:eek:

As a local, I want to appologize for your experience - that being said, you hit the nail on the head. What a shiznit hole! And a total fuktard owner...

It has been so bad that locals have approached the county about purchasing it, old owners have tried lawsuits, etc.

I grew up around here, and I sure miss the "oldern days"!!!
