soo... I macked a tree with my left ski...

I hit a tree with my left ski and facked it up (I was running the stock skis), bent it into a banana shape and smashed the rubber stopper deal-eee bob. Ok so by now you probably figured out my mechanical abilities ha ha. So I took the ski off and checked for further damage ie A-arms steering ect. from visual inspection everything looks fine. I replaced the ski and reinspected it (a-arms all the suspension thingys rods) and looks good when lowered to the ground with weight on the ground- measured everything out with a tape and left matches right- put a level and each side is the same. So all is good? Or should I check anything else??? Oh yeah I went over the bars and hood breaking my windshield too. Now I have the cool flat black flyscreen:face-icon-small-hap-
 
Check the clearance (gap) between the shock and upper a arm, check to see that it is that same on both sides. Next get down ground level and look across the A arm (from front of sled looking back towards track) and make sure it is not twisted. Imagine it removed, would it lay completely flat on the floor? Cracks in the paint at the joints often is a good sign of damage as well!!!

Thanks for the input- I saw no cracks in the paint, that is what my buddies told me to look for. I will check the other clearances you speak of in the morning- thanx
 
Like stated above, make sure both a-arms are flat. Also make sure the shock rod isn't bent. I've bent both sides of mine now. Once on a ghost ride into a tree and just the other day I smacked a rock.
 
dudes just an update- got my front end all a part and whoa bunch of jacked up gear in there. I have a bent lower a arm and a bunch of bread crumbs for bushings or as they call them axels. holy $h!t batman- my dad wants to machine aluminum bushings for me so I will give them a shot. Report and pics due on monday and no extra credit is available. later

please don't do that, these bushings are cheap and have some kind of goofy injected oil to make em last for then 1 ride.....metal on metal wont last long:face-icon-small-win
 
I hit a tree last year. I nocked the motor off the rubber dampener that cradels the motor and caused the clutching to be out of alighnment. Its easy to check just pull the belly pan and look up at the bottom of motor you will see the rubber piece i'm talking about. It will be eazy to tell if its not in there correctly, a pain in the a## to get back in place.:rant:
