Some very odd behavior from the Super Charger??

My big white square GEM connectors had empty holes and got moisture in them and sled would do the same thing yours is doing and it used a lot of fuel because it ran WAY to rich. Took connectors apart, dried them out, plugged the holes and no more problems. Sled uses way less fuel, idles smooth as stock, and no longer dies for no reason.

You're getting pretty good at troubleshooting problems on that yammi. :cheer2::lol::beer;Maybe you should become a tech? JK
Good Lord.
If I had known then what I know now I would probably have just stuck to my computer and never bought a sled.

The next step in the process.
MPI wants me to plug the GEMs back in and...

Set mode 1=0.5, mode 2 any, mode 3 any, mode 4 any, mode 5= 0.5 and mode 6= 8.0

On my MPI apex the 6 second rule applies to mine but it never quits it runs perfect but if i try to give it any gas it will cut out until you hit 6 seconds then works perfect. Also I wrapped a baggie around my GEMS and it seemed to stop any water issues as I haven't had them for 4 years however I'm not a mountain rider mainly trails so I'm not packing the hood full of snow either.

All of your issues sound like GEMS controller, good luck!

Sounds like you found the problem, had this very same thing happen to a friends super charged apex a few years back. Gems box had moisture getting into it..

But my sled lives in a HEATED GARAGE.
Its BONE DRY

And it still does this!

I just don't see how water can be the issue right now??

When your sled dies do you just hit the key and fire it up, or do you turn it completely off and restart? If you don't turn off then the Gem's is in control. If you turn off and restart then the sled probably dies after 6 correct? That will isolate it to the controller more. Even though you unplug it and it runs fine. Sounds like somethin in the controller.

If it did this from the first time firing it up, then no water was present, unless you pee'd on it from excitement!

gems box , attitude , pure logic . All these boxes are pretty much the same and are all a POS . I've had a box show up that's brand new and wouldn't run my sled, the longest i got out of a box is 6 months. like others said , don't leave the truck with out a spare . If you're coming to revy i would talk to the guys from boost it and fix your sled for good . E&S from up here also had a very good running sled here using the mpi standalone

Where do you have the box located On the sled. The machines create a lot of steam and moisture while riding them, remember its basically water that we are riding in and when you put snow in a nice warm engine compartment, walla you have water. If you can get a pelican case or some type of protection they will last longer. It's not a matter of if a box will go bad, it's when.

a pelican box or similar would be a good idea. i build trail cameras and they are waterproof. another tip would be to put some dessicant packs in the pelican case as well to ward off sweating from temperature swings.

I have it mounted up high on my handlebar risers where I can see the thing while I am riding.

I am going to relocate it down to the top of the fuel tank under the handlebar bag and then "Bag" it in a lok sack today.

Doesn't need to be that fancy, here is a simple baggie had the SAME baggie for 4 years now never one single issue with the GEMS. Although this is for trail/off trail midwest riding, the hood is rarely full of snow.

Also this is for a apex, not sure if it matters.

I hot glued my pure logic box on my impulse kit around the seam of the box, wires, and boost hose, I have yet to have a moisture problem like so many have had in the past with the dobeck style fuel controllers.

My apex has sat out overnight on many weekend trips to the cabin with plenty of snow on top of it as well. My box was on the handlebars but I recently moved it to the right side cowling vent, so it does see its fair share of moisture!
