Sold as is ?

Sold a RMK900 to someone a month ago.He comes up to me today and tells me it popped the motor and he wants me to help cover part of the cost of repairs. In return I kindly tell him to take a hike.Question is does ''sold as is'' on the bill of sale cover my butt?

yup..

your conscious should dictate the rest. Not implying anything, your the one that knows the whole story.

Sold as is where is ..no warranty implied or covered sign here please __________________

Pretty much covers ya.
It was in good running condition when sold is all you have to say.
For all you know he tried to run E-85 thru it.

I dont think you should even have to put "as is" on the bill of sale. Its a 4 yr old sled, if he thinks a private seller is gonna pay for any repairs then the guy is just retarded.

Agreed As is MEANS as is.. Thats a gamble everyone takes when buying used and its a gamble most everybody that buys used understands, Its not your fault he doesnt understand.

This is a chance we alltake when buying used rec vehicles. I've got a sled that I wouldnt sell to just anyone because I know buddy whats his name wopuld pop the motor in the first mile down the trail. Not because its a piece of sh!t but because its a finicky big bore. If the fellow U sold yer 900 to took it out and abused or put 2 yr old gas in it thats his fault. Ive blown a new motor on its maiden voyage before due to some clutch issues but didnt get warranty on the motor. Buddy is going to have to live with the cost of th rebuild and cost of playing in this field of sports.

ANd he should have known buying a 900 rmk either the motor is going to go or the crank is going to snap off. 1 or the other...........

A lot can happen in a month during the riding season. I've wrecked and rebuilt and wrecked again in less time than that.

My Escape let go the 855 UBR 2nd trip out, certainly never thought about contacting seller for help getting it going again. It was mine when I loaded it.

Now looking back, glad that thought never entered my mind. I'd have looked pretty stupid since I was the one who failed to premix fuel/oil. Know better now anyway.

im a mechanic so i have to be really specific when i sell something, tell them once they've bought it don't ever call me cause its not mine anymore! when i buy something i take the time to check it out and decide right then if its for me or not. if i buy it i own it. if he wanted a warranty he should have bought new...

Even with the bad rep the 900s have, It really was a good runnin sled and always got me back to the trailer.I really think the guy did something stupid and jacked it up.I guess Im dealing with one of those something for nothing types.Oh well, good luck to him.

Been there before!! If it was in good working condition when you sold it, nothing you can or should do. If he didn't take the time to look it over well and compression test................. too bad. I have been on both sides of this in the past. That is why I threw in the compression test comment. Got burned on that before. NEVER buy a used sled without a compression test. Live and learn.

I sold a sled last year and then the crank seal went out on it, I did the work and the guy bought the parts.
I also bought another sled last year and first ride out blew the motor and had to re-build it. The bad thing about that one is it only had 400 miles on the fresh motor. (It was my bad, I didn't check the jets)
I feel that the second you hand the money over it is then your responsibility.

don't worry... even if he is stupid enough to try and take you to court. the bill of sale says as is and they'll tell him to f off. happened to me with a vehicle i sold once
