Soapstone 1/03/2010

Beautiful day, found some decent snow -- gonna be real hard to go back to work after 14 days off!!

We hear you on that with the 14 days off. I'm going to have a one heck of a hard time getting back in the routine. I'm happy to hear you and your wife found some snow. I hope ACG didn't track it all up. :rolleyes::D Great pictures and I hope we can hook up and ride soon. Right Romi?

How dare you post untouched snow pictures. Your the devil..........:mad::D:beer;

It was soooooooooooooooooo good too. Unfortunately Dave tracked that one all up while I held the video camera. Many more like that. To busy riding to take any action pictures. I was just so amazed at that area being within 50 feet of a really well tracked area I had to stop and take some pics.

:D Next time you and Ron come you will get to see plenty of where that came from.

We had one of those "Where is that freaking road at?" moments, and one of those "You might as well come down cuz I can't get back up" moments too.

Yeah I hear that about some of the more powerful sleds unfortunately. He really wants one with more horse power to boondock and climb the deep and steep stuff. But, a tank can't be fun to ride in the mountains here ya know? He is not a large man., but strong and about 190lbs..<sigh> Wish they were like cars...you get to test drive em before you buy em...lol

They are great sleds, my friend rides his with ease but I have trouble with it when I jump on it and he even says an M8 is like going from a battle ship to a sports car.

As his dealer told him an M1000 is an M8 with 20 more horse, and 20 more pounds.

Lmao, guess that is embedded with all of us.;):beer;

My experiance with the 1000s is unless you are a big guy they seem big and heavy. I think I have comparable skill of my buddy that has one, but am about 60 pounds lighter and it feels like a tank riding it compared to my 800 and dragon or M8.

That is just my opinion though.

I think ACG is probably right -- I weight 260 and its good for me but the M8 with a lighter person would probably be a better choice -- my wife is 110lbs lighter and her M8 153 keeps right up with me.

We had huge areas of untouched waist deep snow...90% of the day actually. :D

It was kind of shame leaving at 2:30-3 o clock but after 3 days in a row my body told me to give it up.

That's what we like about Soapstone -- parking lot is full but I think it's mostly trail riders and hill climbers --- where we go you can find lots of untracked snow and maybe see only 1 or two other groups all day

I saw you 2, and 3 other sleds with the exception of the main road out of the parking lot in 5 hours. Not to bad for the amount of trailers up there in the morning.

Looking forward to it. It will be fun to explore new areas with new friends. :)

we went to the manner lands sledding over new years and was hitting a lot of big tree stumps and rocks we went to Double hill and the beaver dams. The roads were really bumpy. Had a pretty good ride anyway.. hope for some more snow soon. ;)

soapstone

me and my brother ride every sunday in soapstone. we sometimes wander over to the other side into woodland. but i swear u cant beat that snow. i went out before the last storm and it was ok. i got to iron mine and could not even think bout dippin in the snow left or right. i was scared i was gonna bust an arm. went up after it snowed and it seemed to be the perfect amount. i would like someone who is more experienced with soapstone show us around a lil more. but i feel like every time we go up. we find secret places where we havent been before. we have ridden up there for 2 years now. goin on our 3rd. we need some snow buddies tho to show us up.. lol or show us around the place.

We were up there today. It has settled bad. found some decent meadows wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back but they are tracked up now:D

I guess its a good thing that so many peeps are up there packing it down, it's making a decent base but there is only 20-24" of coverage. some of the north facing and protected spots had 3 or 4 but that was it.

Time for a snow dance. LOL!
