So I am "Considering" buying a new Yamaha 2014 Viper

Anybody know what the tallest lug would be able to fit on a viper xtx?? could a guy just buy the xf high country 2.25 lug and slap her in the viper chassis?

Finally had a chance to look over one of these sleds up and close and in person and get a feel for just what we are dealing with.

If the show floor rumor mill contains any truth, this is going to be a RARE SLED out west.

Might only be a 5 dozen of them or so that make it west of the Mississippi river this season!

Looks like Yamaha is focusing all of their on rolling out the short track version back east right now.

MPI had their new Turbo Version in the Yahama booth, that looked mighty nice!

If Yamaha offered the Viper with the OEM MPI turbo kit like they did last year with the Nytro, its a slam dunk purchase. Dollar for Dollar, its just plain STUPID to buy one without the Turbo Kit on it as Yamaha is subsidizing the cost of the kit BIG TIME.

LOTS of floor chatter about an upcoming MTX Long Track version. For those interested in this sled out West, the MTX version is what everyone was talking about.

What will it include??

Speculation suggested..

New Skid
Narrower Front End
Factory installed Turbo (seems they have met Cafe now)

Some said we will see it in Late Feb / Early March as a SnowCheck.

Other said that a small number of them (couple dozen) might turn up in Late Winter as a mid-season release..

Lots of "Inside Baseball" conversations on Costing, Manufacturing, Importing, Production Times, Quality Control, Innovation, ect...

The more I talk and listen, the more I firmly believe we are looking at the FUTURE OF YAMAHA SLEDS in the Viper.

Over time I still think this will be a GOOD THING for both companies....

I think AC has the most to gain. It seems they forgot some of the things they have learned in the last 50 years building sleds.
How about they get some of those Yamaha clutch designers an office TRF?

It will be good.

I think you are blowing smoke. But while we are at it. I think that cat and yamaha will combine to build a snowmobile next year. . .not saying much more. . .

got a first fresh dump of snow last night. not really enough to go riding.

BUT just couldnt resist. Night time. lots of snow in the alleys. just had to try this new sled out! Light was pretty good too.

Oh my god this thing kicks ***. wheelies down the ally. this thing is unbelievable!

Im still in shock 2 hrs later. Snow Snow Snow!!!!!

Ill recommend the viper or XF7000 to anyone! you will be 110% Happy!

Glad i didnt get the 800 smoker

The Yamaha factory rep I spoke to dished out alot of info, some of which was that Yamaha knew people were concerned about the weight of a four stroke. That being known, they built the Viper XTX 58lbs lighter than the Nytro XTX. He also said they were currently testing the MTX version of the Viper. Yamaha made 70 changes from the prototype to final production. Their race teams were at the Artic Cat plant when the first ones came off the line. If they saw something they didn't like, the sled went back into the plant. He said that Artic Cat took some ideas from Yamaha to use in their sleds that were not part of the agreement, but they knew it would happen regardless.

All in all, I think it will be a great sled.
