So how is this downturn in the economy affecting you?

Just wondering how everybody is fairing? With today's crash again in the markets its looking to be pretty depressing. I am getting excited as I think its a great time to make a TON of money. Good time to be buying. Everything is ON SALE. Anybody having to make any life changing decisions yet?

My life has def been taking a downturn. I'm in sales and busines development and right before all this crap started to happen i was working on a nice VC backed deal that would have put me on a real nice path. It's all been shelfed right now. My last start-up just went public on the TSX during all this crap also. sucks. kind of wish i didn't do the full mod this summer.

Stay positive and enjoy life. Keep your head up and when everything turns around you will leverage the opportunites :)

My wife and I are fairly young, so we don't have much money in retirment we don't own a home, we have liquid assets only, we both have (will have very soon) our degrees in fields that will not tank before society ceases to exist (engineering and education). So for me personally this economic downturn is great! Gasoline is almost down to its actual value, Housing costs are being humbled so by the time we need a house perhaps they will be to there actual value's (seriously who could afford a new home 8 months ago?), and as for this sport I think that slightly used sled prices are very low and by next year will be even lower which is good for us buyers. Now if Pelosi gets more power then she already has come next January this will all change....hope for the best.:)

we had to pull every single penny we had out of the market this last year to finish a commercial project that went over budget. Was bummed at the time but now I couldnt be any happier that we did that as we would have lost a ton of money.

We are busier than ever. That's why I don't Invest in the stock market

Been trying to sell my home for 6 months so I can move to the snow where my retirement home and cabin are. Starting price was $595, lowered to $575 and now at $539......Got me 1st offer today at $485.

Investments have lost $50K +...........

Thankfully, we both have traditional retirements that allow us to bring him $7,200/mo after taxes......We can ride it out.......

Good time to be buying boys.

The economy is scaring me but Rizzo is really scaring the he!! out of me now.

My income is based on residential and commercial building and remodels. So we're definitely feeling it. I'm having 2nd thoughts on getting my snow check now cuz I know a lot of last year sleds will be dumped cheap. Times are sucking bad. My cabin is paid for so maybe I should leave this cruel big city life and Play Play Play. Hmmmmmmmm I think I'm on to something.:D

Gm hit a 58 year low and had more value in the 30s, not good times for alot of people. Its a good time to buy stocks, i just dont have the balls to do it.

I have lost 30% of the total value of my 401k in just the last 2 weeks. Things are not looking good.

On the opposite side I paid $2.98 for gas today.

My sales are slumping a little but I cut back on staff in the last year. Seeing people putting things off and it's hard to pay the bills but making it. Glad both rental properties have solid tenants 'cause making those mortages would kill me right now. Lost 11k on our investments but not concerned about it. They are in for the long haul and confident the value will come back. Able to knock few g's a month off of mortage with rate below 4%. Things are tough and it's very stressful but just get up and hang out the shingle every day. Can't do much else...

I hope it is going to bring gas prices down to where I can afford to go ride lots!!

Sorry to here about that. 7% doesn't equate to much compared to current inflation and the devalue of real estate.;)

BTW: Does Dam Dave Work at the Damn Dam at the Gorge?
