good size slide happened Monday a.m. in the 7 Fools area. No one caught in it. A turbo yammy set it off but was down by the time it was rolling. We checked it out yesterday, same area as last year along French Creek.

If you looking up the Widowmaker, go left down threw the Gap. On your right hand side there will be 7 shoots threw the rocks. That is the 7 fools area.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

nope, it is 1.2 miles south west of t and u intersection.

same slope where the guy got killed last year?

I hope I'm not the only one that has to look at a map when it comes to locating trails....I know the "favorite spot" and the "nasty hill" and "the gap", among other names.

Can someone translate the t and u intersection in boondocker-lingus?:D

confused

The only guy I know killed in the Snowies last season was the young guy south of Lake Marie which is no where near the gaps. I'm am aware of what is the 7 Fools. The area of the slide last year was south of the backside of Lake Marie. If you go past the ****ter chute or left of Lake Marie on the highway, less than a mile past you will take a sweeping right -hand turn, take a hard left thru the trees and about a halfmile you will come out on a cornice. Google earth it or if you go down the trail from libby flats to head toward ryans park, just when you go into the trees, stop and look right, you can get a good view of the hill. That hill does go some and usually it is a big one. NOT A GOOD ONE TO PLAY ON GUYS.

Enjoy.

Sorry, no pixs. Same slope as last years fatality. About a mile SW of trail U and T intersection. Was told this slope is all grass no rocks to help hold snow. Snow is needed bad, all hard from being wind blown. All you need is a 121" to climb everything. Someone went over Windowmaker yesterday. Getting very tough to get from Greenrock to the west side, alot of pavement and rocks. Snowing as I type while watching the Hawkeyes smoke the Gamecocks!!!!!!!!!

hey Loren guess the guys around home who say they "never ride where it might avy" are wrong as hell. Maybe now I won't have to argue with them about buying beacons. Probably a pipe dream, but you never know surprises happen every day LOL.

Glad we will be going farther west next week if the conditions aren't that great in the snowies.

Is this 7 fools? Looks like an area we were at last spring...

From Google maps, it looks like same area

Thats the hill that slid on us last year. On the first pic. It slid from the center of the pic to outside the left(south) side of the pic. Broke at the very top and stopped of the shelf. Its tough to see the shelf from the pic though.
I will see if I can find a pic of the avy.

Ya Kirk this hill that slid looks like most of the others we climb, and wasn't wind loaded. Locals said this slope doesn't have rocks on it to hold the snow, just grass. Everything is so wind blown and hard you wouldn't think anything would slide right now.

The guys from Garwin that don't think they need beacons, should team up with the guys from Traer that don't think they need beacons, that would make them half price, cheap bohemies LOL

Kirk, where you guys going? have fun, Loren

going out to Dubois, Wy next friday. I do have one guy going who wants to rent a beacon, anyone from your group want to subsidize their beacon cost. We will be gone the 10th through the 17th. He lives in Missouri and doesn't own a sled, so would rather rent one if he can.

Let me know.
