Snowpark out near Susanville?

There is a snowpark about 30-40 miles north of Susanville on I think its Hwy 44. the snowpark is out of a rest area. Is there any good riding out of there and are you aloud to ride out in all those huge meadows? Thanks! :-)

Bogard Flat

On Hwy 44 there is the snowmobile park at the rest area. You can go west toward Silver Lake and there is a lot of area to ride around. Or you can go east toward Eagle Lake which you can also ride to Antelope lookout. Yes, you can ride in the meadows but be careful of the fences out there and rocks that might be under the snow. Also you can go out A-21 which runs between Westwood and Hwy 44 to the Swain Mtn. snowmobile park. You can go several different directions from there. Your choice of boondocking or just trail riding.

Agreed! Also, Antelope Mt (to the east of Bogard Rest area) is a great place to ride up to. Its a nice big bowl and sets up perfectly for a place to stage for a day of riding with a group. You can also access it from the east out of Spaulding (north end of Eagle Lake), which is a shorter ride. Diamond Mountain is and has been a long time favorite to... There are miles of logging and Forest Service roads in that country to ride too.... Swain Mountain is a nice area for trail riding, and DM of the USFS does a great job grooming the trails up there....

Swain mountain area off A-21 is a lot of fun for riding. A lot of nice trails, and easy off trail riding. It has been a few years since I have been back to Antelope look out area but there is some really fun and easy riding back there as well.

All in all there is some really good riding spots near Susanville, a little bit of everything except for the extreme.

Thanks! We are from Oregon but will be driving right past there in February so I am hoping there will be enough snow to ride at that point. Is there anywhere I can find a report for that area?

Just google the Lassen National Forest Homepage, navigate to the grooming report... it will tell you all you need. Also, the Park Service will post stuff... but its more representative of stuff to the west in LVNP. All in all, its a ton of fun....

its also worth noting that the local snowmobile clubs keep updating the grooming information for that area. I highly recommend antelope if there is a lot of snow. otherwise head the other way and explore back there. it is a great riding area all around.
grooming info might also be posted on the CNSA website as well..
Also the lake almanor snowmobile club usually has its poker run during the long weekend in feb. that is usually a good time and you can connect with riders that match your ability really easily.
regards
scott

Lognomore spent the night last night at the Bogard rest area in the truck, he said he estimated probably 2 and a half to 3 feet of snow in the fields on the other side of the road from the rest area. Every time I can remember the snow is never really "deep" in those fields but once you get back into the trees it will stack up quite a bit, so I imagine once you get back in there your going to be finding lots of deep snow.
