snowmobilers missing out of grizzly creek

2 nights....crazy....sounds like they may be prepared...lets hope.

Did they head out into a storm or get caught in one after? Hopefully they were geared up for the worse weather.

Just makes ya think that a GPS + HAM Radio or a Sat phone would go a long way to help.
Hoping for the best outcome possible for all involved.

MD.

gonna send some prayers for those young men..and the crews who go after them again tomorrow........

Prayers to them for sure. But, it sounds like they are mtn smart. Dont you guys get your slef in trouble trying to rescue them. Don't make it worse than it is.

If they are not found tonight I will be riding up there tomorrow out of the steamboat side. If anyone is going to look or has an idea were they are pm me.
Thanks to Jason from Steamboat Snowmobile Tours for sending a snowcat to help and Routt SAR for looking.

Those were the initial coords that were sent to me.

These were the first ones we had Saturday night, too. I don't have faith they are correct. The updated coords from yesterday are 1.3 miles sw of this fix. Updated coords put them just south of the powerline slash prior to reaching the top.

This morning there is good visibility here and looks to be partly cloudy up there. Routt SAR is heading back up this morning. It is about 5 degrees at my house so a cold night for sure.

Thoughts and prayers are with everyone........ think we rode out of Grizzly with these guys on Saturday. We were slightly ahead of the storm.

Jackson county SAR was at Grizzly giving there giving their equipment a shakedown run but they were gone when we got back around 3.

We ran up the powerlines and did not stay on top long..... it was getting nasty in a hurry. Several small groups that were having trouble even staying together

Could not find the road into Grizzly on the way back out. Ended up with two trucks in the ditch just on the road

Just got a text from Brook Felker who is up there, she said that her dad, Lynn felker, and all the crew along with search and rescue were still out searching. No visual contact has been made with the two brothers. They started out again at first light and as of 10:00, nothing...

I wish i could help.

Reality check for everyone (me included!). There is a lot of light snow out there. I got stuck two times with a buddy and it took us a while to get out of a hole. Go in prepared with some extra gear. IT would be very difficult to walk anywhere in this snow. I got stuck in a meadow. People were stuck everywhere. Careful choosing your routes.

Same thing here ^^^ Stuck in a meadow while everyone thought I was above them in the trees. Visibility was poor, but not like what it sounds like in this story. Probably lost a litre in sweat by the time I dug myself a path just to get out. Hope these guys were prepared and make it through this. Good luck to all supporting the SAR effort!

Keep us updated on how this turns out guys...everyone is wondering if they are found safe!

The news here (SW) is better than any news outlet right now as far as the timeliness of information!!

Ryan

Just heard possible second slide today and more people now involved in rescue. Jackson County is not letting anyone into the area.......
