If you don't know your way around stay out of that upper French Creek country. Lots of pilgrams have spent the night up there hung up. Ride the back side, on a clear day you can ride all over the place and if you keep the peaks in sight you can always find your way back.
Is the backside northwest? I will have a gps and compass for the times we get turned around. I know its easy to lose your directions when the sun isn't shining.
That would be northwest, it refers to the back side of the peaks.
