Snowies as of 12/1 storm?

Anyone have any information as of today (12/1) as to the snow conditions? Snotel sites are a bit depressing, and I have a hard time believing they're accurate. Looking to do a break-in ride tomorrow or Saturday...

Thanks!

Albany says a foot of fresh up top.

I'm heading up tomorrow to put some road miles on the new sled.

The snotel sites don't really give a true representation of the depth on the range due to the size of the mountain and the different conditions. I have seen as much as a 2' difference in snow depth and powder within 10 miles (same elevation) before. Also Saratoga was hammered by wind last night so there is definitely some uneven coverage and drifting.

I'll post up pictures and a report in the Range conditions page tomorrow

I'd be very appreciative!! Looks like we're shooting for Saturday, so an update tomorrow afternoon/evening would be invaluable!

Thanks a ton in advance! :becky:

You should be good if you're just breaking in sleds, but I wouldn't get off the trail! I've got friends that were breaking in sleds two weeks ago up there. But be careful, lots of land mines out there still!

X2. We had 4-6" here at the house, I drove up to Greenrock yesterday, looks like 'bout the same amount.
My .02 coming from Fort Collins to get a few miles on, yal OK.........Coming from a ways out for days............naaa. FWIW

I destroyed 2 M's last weekend near sand lake. Probably the deepest spot up there too. Lots of landmines still. Be careful off trail.

Have any pics of the damage?

Long ride back to the truck riding it this way. Especially once you hit dirt down low by the truck.

Had a conversation tonight with a few guys that rode today. The conditions are still minimal and only road worthy. Snowing right now in Laramie. This is just hear say. Know some others riding Sunday.

It is the most windblown I've ever seen it in 10+ years of riding the range. Snow depth went from 6' to 10" within a few hundred yards. I played it safe and still tapped several rocks and stumps.

Factory yamaha guys are up testing and said the conditions on the east side are worse and there is alot of exposed pavement.

It sucks especially considering last year, we were 3' deeper.

Going to cancel my trip next weekend if conditions dont change. Keep us posted guys and hope for snow.

We chose to do our break-in ride today out of Albany. Although it's far from being "game on" for the season, I was rather pleasantly surprised at how much snow we found. We tapped a few stumps/logs under the snow, but nothing worth worrying about. Would I drive for hours to ride in that? Nope...but it was perfect for breaking in a couple new PRO's. :)

Here is a pic of Saturday Thanksgiving weekend. Foot of fresh and more in places. But this same sled was side hilling and put a rock threw belly pan and crushed outer sheave. Land mines out there for sure.
