SnoWest's 2011 project sled - Project Mid-Life Crisis (Update- MTN TAMER install)

Idaho snow show / SnoWest Project MLC build pix

We'll merge these into the other thread on the SnoWest Project Sled, maybe, but for now here's a thread just from the Idaho Snowmobile Show.

Project Mid-Life Crisis
RSI Racing 5-inch rise handlebar install with gel wrap grips and high-output warmers. These bars are two inches lower than the stock Pro RMK's ProTaper bars. They are closer to the height of the base RMK's steel handlebar, which has a preferable feel in my opinion.

With the gel wrap grips, you can do a lot of overlap for a thicker grip with more cushion or less for a thinner grip. We went thin.

We also went with the original bar end hook off the Polaris bars for a positive hook hold.

Bill and Kevin from Carl's Cycle in Boise came over to install the Holz Racing Products front end and Fox Float Evol shocks. Big thanks to them for not only coming to the show to get the parts put on right, but taking the time earlier back at the shop to get the bearings and tie rod ends ready to go.

We'll put a low Rush windshield on it later.

Just getting started on the ArcticFX graphics. Timbersled kit will go on in an hour or so.

Lets see the rest of the pics!!

Irina Adams installing the starboard side of the ArcticFX graphics. She's wrapped about a dozen Pros so far this year... very quick and perfectly straight!

Thanks Irina and Dan for the installs at the two shows, and thanks Jordan @ ArcticFX for a design that has generated more attention than any sled we've built yet.

Either there's something pretty amazing going on behind the sled, or the colors weren't quite wild enough to get noticed...

Don't try this at home...

Allen Mangum of Timbersled gets the stock skid loosened up so it can come out of the track.

The Mtn Tamer Rear Arm Kit replaces just the stock Pro's rear arm and shock with a coupled arm, which should help us keep the front end in check with the boost.

DSC_1025.jpg

Allen gets the front shaft Zero Pro on the bottom shaft.

DSC_1028.jpg

The factory shock mounts to the front torque arm. The Mtn Tamer rear arm kit comes with a spacer to take its place.

DSC_1030.jpg

Adapter brackets for the rear arm kit. The custom black anodized Ice Age rails didn't match up to the brackets, so we'll install those in a couple weeks.

DSC_1032.jpg

Mount one bolt in the rear hole, then drill the middle hole.

DSC_1043.jpg

Install the center bolt, then drill the front hole.

DSC_1044.jpg

Measure down and forward to determine the new mounting location for the bottom shock shaft (which can also be mounted in the forward factory hole for a straighter shock and stiffer stroke).
