SnoWest's 2011 project sled - Project Mid-Life Crisis (Update- MTN TAMER install)

Now clamp the Better Board down, drill through it and through stock footbed material, and rivet in place.

Bottom view. We filed the sharp edges down, mainly because we bleed whenever we touch something expensive, so that cuts down the risk a tad.

Boards look nice. I am in need of these for my Pro. It will be my next mod for sure. So does the running board feel a little more rigid? Great looking sled BTW!

Yes, some of the flex is gone. It seems like it's tied the edge rail in a little better. Then again, as you can see in the pix these rails have had more abuse than Charlie Sheen's Vegas suite. Almost.

Foot traction is very positive on these. I though my feet would slide sideways more on these, but they have a pretty firm grip. It takes more effort to reposition your feet forward or backward while riding. But part of that has to be because there isn't as much snow buildup on the Better Boards between the large openings and the non-stick powder coating.

Timbersled Mtn Tamer skid install

Here's a few shots of the Timbersled Mtn Tamer skid install. Allen Mangum delivered the skid and installed it, and stuck around for a ride that day.

Stock skid

Mtn Tamer ready to go in. The Mtn Tamer is about 5lbs lighter than the stock skid (with OE Walker Evans shocks). It was about two pounds lighter than our Fox Float Evol-equipped stock skid.

Allen Mangum had the rails powder coated black and the arms coated KTM orange to match the sled's color scheme... which is basically anything goes.

Ryan, Glad you like the skid. It sure looks cool in there. It’s always a pleasure to go riding with you. Hope to see you at the Jackson Hole Hill Climb with the sled. :face-icon-small-win

The mtn. Tamer does look awesome in there and I'm sure it performs even better. Ryan, when is the sled coming back to Colorado? I would like to see how it performs now compared to its first trip out in November.

So now that you guys have been hammering on this thing for a while how does it stack up against other mtn sleds you all ride? Please let us no in terms of handling, power and the entire package.
