I liked the old forum where the biggest sin was posting something for sale in general.Most times a good thread high jack was all that was needed to correct the problem.

1. Minimal "Facebook type" fluff (Bells & whistles)
2. Private THREADS.(Like we used to have), where a member can start and add who they want. W- No moderation access. (But p-o-r-n, etc. is locked out of being posted.)
3. Thanx & "Approvals" (Where you can see who approves or disapproves.)
4. Minimal Moderation during sh!tdisturbing, if it goes South real BAD, then OK.
5. A general poll on if someone gets out of hand, whether they get booted or not, if you receive 75% votes of "Boot them" you are gone.
6. Ban / Lockout of the extreme profanity words ............
7. NO Posting items for sale in you signature or in general catagories, they go to SWAPMEET.

I think one of the huge problems is that christopher assumes that everyone on this site are as computer savy as he is. He fails to understand that (and I would be a honest number would be 65-75%) of the people on here for whatever reason are not computer geeks. Whell the whatever would be because we are athletes and not dorks. One major issue that comes of this is that he thinks "well it works for me and I like it so everyone will." It is VERY obvious to me reading throughout the forum today that the VAST majority support SW but support it going in a different direction than the direction Christoper is taking it.

I like the KISS method a lot. Many of the folks around here seem to be voicing that sentiment in their own words.
A suggestion on the financial end of things. I believe that this site costs a lot to maintain. I think if there are legitimate needs, advertising and good will can only cover so much.
I purpose to let the folks know what the actual needs are(with some sort of accounting) and ask for donations. You can easily track the progress with one of those charity type thermometers until the financial goals have been met.
I think that the folks on this site would come to the financial rescue of this site to keep it quick and usable.

I might be in the minority here, but.... it kind of irked me when I got into Washington sub-section, and there was 3/4 of a page with "fail this, fail that".
I don't want to be the party police, but starting 19 new threads to play a game with a buddy seems rather silly. Start one thread, and put all of your funny pics in one thread, please. I would be in support of a moderator having the power to make these adjustments when the general membership behaves poorly.
Lets have fun, share some info, make some friends, help some folks out, and can we be adults about it?
I do like the feature of thanking someone for a post, and I would also like a transaction rating section in the swapmeet. I'd like to be able to tell others if I had a good experience dealing with another member. I believe this promotes accountability as well.
I like the idea of voluntary donations. I would like to recognize the folks that choose to give. a simple 'contributor' moniker beneath their name would be great. Amounts are personal. For the sake of billing and accounting, it would be reasonable to establish a $10 minimum. But no requirement.
The idea of "$ thermometer" to reach stated goals is good. And make sure the goal we are shooting for is clearly defined. Explain to the members what that $ will be used for. It's fair to plan for a small % of cost overruns when making goals, and if you are able to come in under the budgeted amount, let the members know, and help decide what to do with that extra. ie: rainy day fund, or member giveaways, or charity gift to ????
It would be great if we could work a 2% or 5% discount for contributors when they shop from our paid advertisers. I don't know if this is pipe-dreaming, but, they are concepts I like, and think could be worked into the model. I could also see incentives for folks to contribute, such as monthly prizes or giveaways. Not huge, but maybe a $25 gift card to a vendor.
Oh, and one more thought... I would like to be able to have a section where we as a group would periodically recognize a member who has gone above and beyond to do something special for others. Giving someone a part they need, or helping tow someone out is cool and great, but I'm thinking about larger impacts. Either way, it would be nice to be able to recognize those that give back to our community and Country.

How about a tiered system like they have proposed, but with the member having all the privileges they do now with viewing and posting. But add a premium or VIP member who pays an annual fee and gets access to the magazine in digital format and a little deal by their name, or an avatar. Something to set them apart.
Add some value, but allow the average Joe to come and post all they want. I'd gladly pay an annual fee voluntarily for access to the magazine, knowing that people aren't going to potentially leave due to the forced cost to play.
