Snowcheck stolen from dealer lot before delivery

I was on my way to pick up my snowcheck this morning, when my dealer called and gave me the bad news. Sled was stolen from their outdoor storage last night.
So far, they are claiming full responsibility to replace or repay and I have no reason to not trust them. I'm sure they want to make this right.

Here's where my problem starts...
-sled was a 163 Std RMK 60th anniversary LE with all the free snowcheck goodies available this year. Very unlikely they will find a direct replacement.
-the price I paid is very similar to an in season Pro 163, so all my snowcheck goodies are not represented by what I paid.

The dealer is still scratching their head on what to do, salesman mentioned the possibility of giving me an in season model and throwing some accessories my way to make up the difference, or if I'm not happy with that they could give me back my money (sled financed at my bank already). For now they are looking for a replacement snowcheck through the dealer network.

How the hell do I put a value on the sled that was stolen when bargaining with them? Simply giving me an in season Pro doesn't even come close to replacing what I ordered even though the prices are similar.
I didnt want a pro, and can't build up a Std RMK because they don't come in 163.
I feel a screw job coming because of the smokin deal we got on the snowcheck options this year.

Wow tough deal. Since the extra's were "free" incentives it may be hard to get a monetary value for them. Can't see them being able to find you a exact replacement. I would say either get a refund or take the pro as being your 2 options. If you want a 163 the pro is gonna be your only option.

Yep, that's that's my fear sandman, they will be thinking dollars paid vs what a pro is worth. I wonder what the price tag is on a set of remote res clicker shocks is?
My last pro was stolen in Feb and I lost a lot with that claim.... now this.

I'm sure that the dealership is as bummed out as you are...

But get this straight...

There were NOT "free incentives" included NOR should you even use that language when discussing this with them or in writing.

These items were part of the package that you purchased.

Polaris NOR your dealer "gave" you anything for free.

The language you should use is "included in the Price of the sled".

You bought a Limited Edition, SnowCheck ONLY, snowmobile... not an accessorized "In Season" sled.

You need to be swift and direct in your negotiations at this point.

It is not what you paid for it back then... It is what it is worth now.... be clear about that.
Those items were included in the price... as well as the extended warranty and the Golden Ticket.

The Golden ticket will be a funny issue, since the sled was not delivered to the customer.. the Golden ticket will most likely not be issued.
So you will need to make sure that the dealership gives you in writing their own golden ticket for next years purchase.

Also... don't give in easily and let them know you will have to "think about" any offers being made, overnight or more.
They, which is the dealerships insurance company, will give you as little as necessary to make the issue go away.

The way I see it...
If they have a 163 PRO RMK...They will need to add a lot of goodies to it to make it what you paid for it... At this point, essentially a custom sled.

The dealership will have insurance for the theft.... and that insurance is designed to take care of these things.

A SnowCheck 163 RMK has, ABOVE an "in Season" PRO RMK.

1) Tunnel/Bulkhead cooler
2) Walker Evans Clicker Shocks with the 5/8" shafts and specific valving and piston(Not a converted PRO RMK shock with an added piggyback)
3) Painted spindles
4) Custom colors/graphics.
5) Painted tunnel.
5) Painted rails
6) Steel driveshaft
7) Chaincase
8) Burandt Tunnel bag
9) Windshield of your choice.

Expect that you are going to find resistance... but keep pressing and talk directly to the owner of the shop... face to face...If they are a good dealer...they will do the right thing.

And on top of that....DANG...There sure are a lot of sled thefts in your area it seems.

There and Revy are the worst I've heard of.

.

Thanks for your input mountainhorse, I appreciate it.
I already have my factory issued golden ticket as I paid for the sled at the end of Oct but did not take delivery of it. Possibly it will be void when they report the serial number stolen?

There certainly is alot of sled theft in western canada... BC has a pretty slack situation of not requiring registration or license plates and it creates an environment where people can buy hot sleds and for the most part get away with riding them. This sled was about 12 hours from being picked up about and having gps locating tech installed when it was stolen.

make them BUILD you another one you paid for the sled you deserve to get what you paid for..

Get a in season 155 std rmk, get them to put 163 rails and track with the w/e clickers and all the accessories.

Not quite the same... But close

They should be able to order shocks to decals to match it up. If I was a dealer, I would be building you one.

I'm obviously going to have some deep conversations with the manager/ owner about all of this.
I have been comparing prices of the different parts I would be missing if I'm given an in season Pro...mountainhorse is bang on with most of it.

$1000 aprox difference between the Pro shocks and the Clickers
$1000 golden ticket if it doesn't carry over to a new non-snowcheck serial number (I don't think it will)
$700 electric start
$500?? LE White hood, graphics, painted rails, suspension.
Storage I'm sure they will be able to supply.
$3200 and I still won't have the drive train I wanted, already spent hundreds on chain and gears, the painted tunnel is missing, and stuck with a CF bumper and over structure.

If I get a standard there's more:
$300 aprox difference from 163 down to 155
$??? Pro tapers and steering post
$??? Console mounted switches
I'll have my drive train, but on a shorter sled and wouldn't be happy about that.

Are the 60th anniversary sleds badged to say so like 50tj and 40th year were. That would be the hard part to order

I would want them to locate a new one if possible. It's the only way you will truly get what you paid for. "Building" a 60th anniversary model doesn't make it one.

I will look around Manitoba for one for you but usually snowchecked rmks here are 155s. 163s are just too long for us prairie boys. And snowchecks rmks here are a rare item. Way more assaults, but I will still look

What about getting the terrain domination pro model. I bought a 163 version and its basically like a snow check without the extended warranty.

Are those dealer prices or what you and i would have to pay for them. That is another issue that will muddy the the waters a little. I would push as hard as you can for a exact replacement and it may take more time then you want it too. there is resale value in a special addition that is not there in a standard sled not just in the fancy parts they come with. Their insurance company will try to settle as quickly as possible and for the least amount of money to make the issue go away. they know the season is about to start or has already started in your area and they know you want to ride your new sled. This situation is certainly a drag but it was lack of security that caused it. You should not have to pay for that as a customer

I got the same sled u got in the 155 and if it was me I would fight for them to make u one at the dealer if they can't find u anything which I can't see them finding one. The le 60th rmk is incredible and I would be super pissed and I wounldnt want to settle for a pro no offense to pro owners the rmk this year was close to a pro but had a lot nicer features and is more dependable than a standard pro

Wow
I hope all turns out right, chance they could get Polaris to build another:face-icon-small-con
Probably not.
