Snow show review

A contest for custom sleds or modified sleds! Would be cool to see whats out there! And booths be larger so everyone isn't so stacked up and running together!

Didnt like this years show. Swap meet was poorly organized.
Seemed like not as many vendors inside. Was dissappointed!

We'll look at modifying the booth space for next year! Thanks for the comment.

There was a contest for mod sleds http://tinyurl.com/k4yrxnt

We didn't get a ton of contestants, but hopefully it was enough to continue this contest for the 2014 show. The winners were displayed in front of the 'SnowGoer' booth, just at the entrance to the Workshop area.

There was actually both more vendors, and more square footage of vendor space at the 2013 show when compared to the 2012 show. Perhaps it was the layout, and we will take a look at that for next year. The one thing that we limited was the non-snowmobiling vendors. Previously, we had a bunch of floor space filled with rv's and other non-sled items, and we chose to focus on sled-related items, so that also might have contributed to this. Would you like to see the RV and non-sled vendors come back?

The swap meet will definitely be re-engineered for next year. I think the swap meet is one of the biggest attractions for our show. We debated having it inside, but the facility didn't want sleds running indoors (which would have prevented the buyers from seeing how a sled ran). We chose to put it outdoors and were blessed with good weather, but it needs some improvement.

Thanks for the feedback, and let me know if there is anything else that I should look at!

I thought prices on gear where no lower then what I get at my dealer. Would like to see better prices on last years gear. However, if people keep paying that much then there is nothing we can do. Plus, I like supporting my dealer, so I guess it works out for us.

I wasn't impressed. The parking was better, but the swap meet location was a total joke. I am not even going to bother with the swap meet next year if it is located as it was 1/4 of a mile away from the show. The swap spaces need to be consolidated and near the main entrances/exits, period. I bet half the people who went to the show didn't even k ow it was there. I was pretty frustrated by this. The only improvement over the merch mart was better parking. The venue was organized in roughly the same fashion as it was at the March mart, so I don't see any change here.

Also why are BBQs not allowed in the swap space?

Because the venue wants you to buy their overpriced and nasty gruel.

I went to both the SLC and DEN shows this year and I have to say the Denver show isn't far behind at all. I thought the SnoWest sponsored SLC show was going to knock the socks off Denver, but it wasn't all that much better.
I haven't been to the Midwest shows in years so I'm not going to speak to them.

Here's my opinion. Salt Lake vs Denver

SLC-multiple snowmobile manufacturers had floor space and you could really see and compare the different makes for 2014. Denver would be wise to get them all there too, not only dooski.

The swapmeet completely sucked in SLC, unless I missed a huge section it was tiny! Denver was amazingly better!

SLC had drawings and a few more promo's to keep people involved. IMO it was a little hokey, but there were so many families there it was probably really well received by the kids especially. Keeping everyone informed of what was going real time via public address is smart.

SLC got all the "talent" together at a couple tables to sign autographs at one time... seemed like a great idea. Also there were 8-10 pro riders there, the more the better. I didn't see CB there though so kudos to Denver for having him and the 3-4 big dogs giving seminars. That is pretty spectacular.

Denver, your vintage sleds were better!
Also the multiple day show in Denver is wayyyyy better for those attending, the vendors may not agree with that:) But please keep it going all weekend!

IMO overall the shows were close, slight edge to SLC in the areas stated above. I thought there would be a huge gap and that Utah would blow Colorado's show out of the water...that was not the case.

I think you guys are doing a great job! If you can get the big manufacturers here, the help of this site, and half of what is being talked about on this thread Denver will be one of the very best shows. Appreciate the work, thanks.

Tough crowd.

One thing that could really take off is working on the clothing/accessory pricing directly with the manufacturer. I can't help but think about Klim. There were probably 5-6 booths selling Klim but Klim only allows a certain discount. Some booths were undercutting that anyway (I know because I was offered "special" deals). What if Klim was contacted to offer a snow show special for its resellers? Something significant. This would entice people to wait until the snow show to buy their Klim, MotorFist, ect. Plus, the companies selling Klim would benefit from the crowds that would flock in for the big deals on Klim. We used to see this 6 years or so ago when you could get Klim for 40-50% off. I waited months for the show to get the deals. I'm just using Klim for an example here but other companies could follow suit. Obviously there would have to be some dialog with these companies to get them to agree to this deal.

I went to the show with $1,000 cash and came home with it. The only thing I bought was an exchange on my ABS canister. Never even made it out to the swap. For me, the show is about seeing the new stuff and friends. The deals better be smoking good or I'll just buy through my normal suppliers.

The last time I was at the snow show before this one was around 05 or 06.
The entry fee still seemed reasonable and there seemed like lots of booths.

I'm like anyone else and like to get a deal. I was looking for an actual good deal on old model klim gear. There was really none to be had. If I'm going to pay close to full price for gear it probobaly won't be in the middle of a huge crowd. I remember buying non-current model gloves and pants at the snow show for more like 40%-50% off.

The swap meet was the biggest let down. (I was looking to buy another sled). Not only was it tiny compared to the old days but from what I could tell the area you first got to seemed like it was all dealers selling sleds for "nothing special " prices.
I did walk around the block to see the dozen or so actual swap meet sellers.
I did pick up a skid plate for my XP for $25 so all in all it was worth going.

I'll check it out again in another 7 years.

Colorado may have a much smaller number # of registered riders but who do you think buys all of the mountain aftermarket parts? NOt some mid-west trail rider.

Overall the snow was pretty good. I did find some really good deals on gloves and a klim midlayer but they where through a retailer.

I was really in the market for some handlebars and was disappointed that RSI was not there and Skinz didn't bring any other then one flat bar. Not the venues fault by any means.
