snow conditions in vernon / hunters range

i was up there on sunday. 2 ft base at first cabin. stayed around there as it was very thick fog on 2nd cabin. there was a decent amount of fresh stuff on the ground to play around in. still have to be fairly careful of creeks in the fields and the odd rock but overall it was a very good day for my first ride of the season. people had parked in the main parking lots and road up but i would only do that with a trailer. i drove about 8km up the trail to unload.

so is it worth making the trip up from the lower mainland this weekend ? The weather shows snow in the kelowna vernon area and cooler temps . The weatherman is also full of **** so what do you guys think?:beer;

Here comes the report you have ALL been waiting for. I rode there today- up kingfisher. staged at 12/13km. made first tracks up to the meadow, it was pretty bumpy. A few of the drainage ditches running across the road were still open and were getting muddy towards the end of the day. There was about a foot of powder on don't know how many foot base heading up. When we got to the meadow i probed and got about 4ft. Pretty decent powder riding, sunk to my hip when i stepped off the sled. There are still tons of ravines and rocks that are just starting to get covered up. I nailed quite a few rocks and trees today. The snow up in the alpine was windblown to pretty much nothing- TONS of rocks- dont even think about climbing up there now (all the hills outside of the first meadow have had the snow stripped off by the wind). All in all, it was alright for a quick fix- but im waiting for a few more weeks. Hope this helps

snowfall warning in effect to the amount of 20cm at valley bottom today. its going to be snowing pretty hard all day up top. should be just what the doctor ordered! and by doctor i mean doctor powder. :)

A friend and i rode in the day chalet way and found 3' on the stick at the chalet,but prob 4-5 in the tree's.made it to the gordon sydney and was decent not great but good.The mild weather has friggin created some serious drainage ditches in the trees(big 'fn holes) in the creeks.We tried the back trail behind the cabin that links up to the mara mt trail and we had to turn back because of windfallen trees and deep creeks.
it's there but still need more.Base was good though.

The pics are of the thursday before we got dumped on all over the interior so should be real sweet now.
i'll try to post some pics later with crappy cell camera

the snow is still coming down! i was skiing in revy today (vernon is getting more than them right now).. must bring extra fuel for tomorrow.. i have a feeling its going to be a long day :)

no photos as i was too busy riding but most places you went the snow was flying over your hood. stay on the trail until you're close to the radio tower before the second cabin still. a yamaha took a stump to the oil pan. i never ended up going passed the first cabin as i was with a beginner rider. 2nd cabin showed 4.5 ft or so. the season has started. (and it seemed warmer up there than it was in town)
