Snow Check?

You don't do PM's so I'll ask. Was it price between the two or service? I've only purchased parts at both locations, mostly Chopper City. I do my own wrenching so have no service experience with either. With a new sled I'll have some warranty, something I've never experienced.

Too bad our conditions totally went to pieces almost overnight.

It will be interesting to see if the track chews the icy snow enough to lube the slides and keep it cool?

I appreciate your feedback.

Mark, I am unsure why I cant get PM's? I checked all of my user settings and made some changes so please try again. As for the comparison of Northway to Chopper there is no comparison, Northway wins solely based on service, and also by pricing.

Chopper use to be the place to be 15 years ago but they are to old school these days and it has hurt them and Marv missed the bus in my opinion when he passed on the Victory's and did the Boss Hoss thing. Obviously he sells some Boss Hoss's but Victory has the market share for sure!

Chopper has had alot of employee turn over and lacks service because of it, with the exception of Jeff in parts! Northway has retained more key employee's and has a much more modern facility and staff. I like both places for parts but Northway stocks more. Marv is a great guy but he is too hands off into the boss hoss stuff! IMO.

Ok now back to the sled has been cooling ok so far in the heat with the scratchers down but I only rode in the heat last sunday and it was fine so far.

I also have an 011 assault 155.I live in corn and soybean country. Picked it up Feb. 10th. at Bristows. Rode the trails around here two weekends ago and as long as I had the scratchers down, no cooling problems. Track hooks up like a MoFo. Spent the last 4 days in the tower area. first day was warm and slushy, assault worked fine on sticky snow on logging roads. lakes were sloppy and rough. Fri. morning, 6 degrees, all the slush froze, assault does not like ice period. scratchers didn't do much good. couldn't run the lakes and river because couldn't find enough snow to cool motor. logging roads? So set up we rode over the top of 3 feet of frozen snow. Sat. was a better day, did about 1/2 trail with scratchers down and temp was 125 to 140 and about 1/2 logging roads temp at 120 to 125. My conclusions are that as long as you have some real snow even if it is packed the competition track will work in MN. but it is a little rough riding on the hard pack and likes to trench in the softer snow. On the set up stuff it's awesome as long as it's 3 " deep or more.
Hyfax has not been an issue so far, even on the ice crap Friday.
I had to relearn riding the first day and after that the missing sway bar isn't a real issue at all.
I'm still working on clutching, and my shocks are valved to stiff for my weight. (160 Lbs.) I'll soften up the valve stacks in the shocks and be good to go.
In 360 miles I've had the dreaded mid range bog 3 times in the last 100 miles, it's like someone hit the kill switch and then back on. no idea what causes it, but it's a pain!

Snow

Well - with this latest round of snow it might be much harder to find a hold over 2011 Assault as we might have extended our season substantially.

Glad to hear everyone is pleased with their sleds.

I may end up just changing tracks for when I go west. I doubt the new sleds are much different to work on than the Edge I do now. I run a 144 x 1-1/4" in MN and the stock 2" out west.

Would n't need to rejet at least. Just exhaust valve springs, clutch weights, and I suppose a different helix?
