Well this is my last ride for the season so on Saturday, Ed (alias Supered on Snowest)and I went to Begbie. It was a beautiful day not a cloud in the sky. We had a nice ride up except were the willows were coming up I got close and personal with a rather large tree but after breaking two saws managed to get going again. I think this was probaly the last day in Begby as the willows are coming up big time.
We had an excellent day as we had the whole place to our selves and as things warmed up you could do some climbing as the snow softened up as the day wore on.We played all over did some climbing and only had a little carnage.I pulled this one hill that was very steep and as I got to the top I stopped just in time as my skis hung over a cliff. As I started sliding backwards I tried to dig her in but it was way to steep so I stepped aside and watched as my sled rolled and endoed only to land on her skis and ghost ride down to the bottom taking out a five or so inch tree and then barely missing Ed who was on his way up to see if I was OK. Very lucky situation as nothing got broken and nobody got hurt I just had to reattach my windshield.
On Sunday we awoke to a very overcast Revelstoke but being our last day decided to head up Frisby anyways. We parked at around Km. 3 and as we headed up the skies cleared up and in the end had the whole of Frisby to ourselves. It was a gorgous day we rode on past the green tower and played around there for a while but it was not as warm as the day before so the snow was a lot harder. We played all the way back to the cabin climbing everything easily even too fast as we were hooking up too good.
If you plan on going out in the next couple of weekends I would bet that conditions will be great at Frisby. We heard from some locals that the trail up Boulder was pretty ugly. On the Sunday ride I didn't take any pictures as I left my camera at the truck thinking it was going to be to cloudy to take any pictures but I won't make that mistake again.
So happy sledding for all you die hards there should be snow for at the least this month.I would be going a few more times but it is time to make money after not making any all winter.
Cheers,
Dave
