Definitely the later! I just got questioned about this in a public setting. I am for stopping the expanding police state. My deputies will not be about enforcing every petty code on the books. If I hear that some of them are they will answer to me. They will be required to use good common sense and judgment in every situation.

You have taken the wrong message. I wouldn't want my deputies to pester someone to death over a simple traffic stop....meaning give them a warning on their registration, etc instead of citing them. Yes officers do have discretion and the Constitution says NOTHING about what you are eluding to. Show me where in the Constitution that it requires a peace officer to enforce all code...that is absurd.

Many sexual acts are in violation of the law...yup still on the books. I suppose you would welcome officers into your home to arrest you and your wife for a certain sexual act you performed... because according to you the Constitution demands it.

I don't know how many times we didn't charge someone for possession of a controlled substance because we rolled them into being an informant for us...to fry the bigger fish. Yup, officers have discretion...but that doesn't mean their superiors don't check up on their discretion.

He sure is concerned about the US constitution to try to be elected as a county sheriff. I would think the Idaho constitution and laws within the state of Idaho would serve more purpose.

Exactly how are you going to limit the feds in Bonneville County?

If you would get elected and do what you are saying you will do, you'll have the county mired in lawsuits. Good luck with that.
