SLP Performance Kit, is it worth buying?

Just found out about the SLP kit. Would anyone recommend it, or anyone have any problems with it?

I think they put out a great kit for both the M8 and the M10. I've always used their products and never been disappointed no matter what brand I was riding at the time. I ride in SLP country and they are great for customer service too. Good luck.

I'm new to Cats and bought a 09 M8 out of a crate last spring. I was fortunate enough to have my dealer put a SLP single on my sled before I bought it. I was so impressed with the way it works (and sounds) with just the pipe, that I went ahead an added their entire performance edition kit. I can hardly wait to try it out this winter.

By the way, the horsepower rating is 169.4 but, I was told that is a very conservative horse power number by SLP and that this was the lowest horse power number they got on the dyno of at least 20 power runs. They state this number because they want to make very sure that every sled they put out has at least the minimum advertised horse power they claim. Most sleds should make several more horse power than SLP's claimed minimum horsepower rating.

What Sled are you thinking of putting it on? I'm thinking of putting one on my M1000. So thanks For the thread:beer;

Could also talk to rkt on here about his porting. Many people have had his done and like it also. Just another option.

the slp performance package on a m8 will beat a y-pipe and can'd M1000 but not a m1000 with slp full exhaust. But on the M1000 you need to have half a clue how to tune or be conservative when tuning. even just a full slp pipe on a m8 will beat a stock m1000 most of the time.

Ok not trying to steal your thread but i got a question about the SLP pipe setup on my M8. I live in Alaska so its pretty low elevation. like 4000 at most. If i run the SLP pipe, Y-pipe, and can im not going to have to need a control box or anything right?

I installed the performance package on an M7, but I did it in stages because I could not afford the package all at once. One of the last mods I did was the VForce 3 Reeds. I didn't see a noticible increase. I don't think I'll invest in those reeds on my current sled. Just a thought.

SLP Pipe for low elevation in Alaska

AKLankford,
The answer to your question is that you will not need to run a fuel controler in Alaska for the exhaust system. If you start adding other things (head, air intake, etc) you may need to add fuel. I ran one on my HCR all of last year and was still rich according to my plugs and piston wash. For what it is worth, it appears that the new Speedwerx 925 pipe makes more horsepower down low for us Alaska boys but you will need to add fuel. Good luck:)

Kit is worth it but I got twins so the control box at high elevation makes sense for me. Also, I added the vforce reeds and it made it snappier on the throttle but no hp gain. Make sure you add venting for this piping kit. Cool air is key.

Slp stuff works very good They leave alot on the table when it comes to clutching and they don't even mess with gears But they engine stuff works great .

Money well spent

well worth the money in my opinion makes the m8 run very well get the clutching correct and hang on. I done it to my 09 and the sled just runs the same every day no tuning all the time. pm me if you have any questions ill be glad to help if i can.:beer;

I bought the slp performance kit last year as well for my 09 M8 and it runs awesome. I had them do all my clutches and everything, the thing just rips.

I alsorun the pipe kit on a 09 m8 it works great. I also run a D&D intake it work good at 5500 to 9000ft with no controller. I have also run it at 2500ft. It will run a bit lean on the plugs but the piston wash looks good. I'm happy with SLP products

Is anyone out there using the Stage 2 kit, Just the pipe set intake and clutching? What kind of results are people seeing with this one?
