Sled to sled snow bungee

I had very good luck with the snobunjie slick tape pulling some Kitties out last year.

hey

I was buried up to my arse uphill, an this guy stopped by me facing down hill, hooked his sno bunjie to my sled, and his, and yanked me completely around. It was pretty cool. It was black with hooks on each end.

i make my own... just go down to hardware store and get a roll of 1/2" bungie ( the bigger the better ) and some industrial hooks with safety latches and a couple of short 1" slings. put a hook on one end of each sling and loop the bungie through the other. you can custumize the strenghth by the # of loops of bungie, i used three, and the length.

pulled out many many sled to sled and never a problem. saved hours of shuveling works awsome!!

I have a homemade hand one also. I have also made 1 for the two people I ride with and 2 extra's for new people I ride with. My dad and girlfriends dad farms so the bungie rope is free once it becomes to short to use on the semi roll tarp. One thing I did to help me out a little when I am stuck alone and one one can see me or get to me is I bought a rope ratchet. I can hook the bungie up to my sled and rope ratchet to a tree and get myself out. Takes a little work as you have to keep tightening the rope ratchet, but better than sitting there.

They work great! But be careful when using them. Make sure you have your helmet on and tekvest, both the guy stuck and guy pulling. I was pulling a cat out on my xp and it came unhooked off the cat and shot back and me on my xp and went thur the snowflap and into the track. Put a big hole thur the flap and wAs stuck in the track. Had to cut a larger hole on the flap to get I out. That's how tight it was. Just be careful and they work awesome. Pulled out sleds at togwotee buried up to shoulder deep powder. Rated a must have!!

I like this idea, there is plenty of bungee rope in various sizes around here.

Can you describe the sling a little better, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

thanks....
Aaron

I'm guessing the 1" slings are similar to motorcycle tie-down extensions. Wrap the sling around something solid on the sled and hook both ends onto the hook.

I made my own bungee and used an old MC tie down hook on one end and on the other end I made a handle out of rope and a short piece of pvc pipe as a handle. I have used it as both a handheld and sled to sled.

To cover the bungee cords I used an old MC tire inner tube.

Okay, I got you on the slings now.

How many loops did you use and what was the overall length?

Im a big fan of the cobra, it can be used either way. just grab the strap and pull or hook it to another sled. with the bunje's you dont ussually need to hit the end either, more just "roll" into it then giver a little more.

Also snowbunje makes a "turning adapter strap". its sweet, you just slide the one end over the back of the stuck sleds DOWNHILL ski up to the spindle. When you pull the sled out, he can just keep movin and it will just slide off the back of his ski. If, however, you hook it to the up hill ski the stuck sled flips over. (learned that the not-so-easy way)

mine is very similar to skidoo_guy but has a strap on each end and is longer with a couple more wraps of bungie for sled to sled but you get the idea. hand or sled option, they work!!

Mine has 4 strands and is braided to keep it a little tighter. Your right they work, really work well on the doo's as they pop out of the snow good. My friends 09 M8 it requires a bit more work because it doesn't pop up out of the hole as well.

Whenever possible, weather we are using the cobra or rattler, we make several passes with another sled at the angle we are going to pull out the stuck sled. Takes 2 minutes and usually is worth it. WILL NOT ride without beacon/probe/shovel, water and bungee.

This is good to hear. I had back surgery and was worried what I would do about getting unstuck this season. I was pondering the idea of making my own sled to sled bungee since I have already made a hand one. Mine looks just like skidoo guys and has worked well but still requries a strong back.
