PBR Power Boosting Regulator Technical Information
The PBR electrical system is a Serious, commercial grade power system.
The only AC power on a Matryx (any 650/850 Patriot) is on the 3 yellow stator wires, coming out of the engine, on the way to the Power Boosting Regulator.
The Power Boosting Regulator (PBR) takes 3 phase AC from the stator,
converts it to DC power and regulates it into 3 major circuits:
16 Volts DC for the ECU, fuel injectors, ignition coils, sensors and vehicle Communications Network (CAN)
... for 1.5 milliseconds, when opening the fuel injector, ECU steps up voltage to 22 Volts, then drops back to 16 volt
... ECU steps down to 5 Volts for sensor power
14 Volts DC Critical Circuit for fuel pump, oil pump and EVES Learn relay
.. E-VES II Learn Relay powers the E-VES II actuator, gauges, and external lights
14.4 Volts DC Chassis Circuit powers hand/thumb warmers, accessory DC power, driver & passenger seat warmers &
.. Battery Charge Relay powers battery charge circuit
The PBR, Power Boosting Regulator, provides DC power for all three circuits that power the sled and the engine. Nothing other than this device, handles AC 3 phase power (72VAC +-25% @5,000rpm) from the stator.
It is programmable, and on the sled's CAN communications network, so it can have 2 way communications with: the ECU, the LHC (Left Hand Control), and the 7SDD or the Message Center Gauge. The software /firmware /programming on these devices, can all be updated with the latest version thru Digital Wrench or RideCommand (for 7SDD).
