skiwell dump can on an 06 crossfire 7???

i was wondering if anybody out there ever switched their bottom dump can to a skiwell dump can on a 06 xfire 7? i hear that its not hard to do. just cut a hole in the skiwell and mount a snow deflector. then cap off the old hole.

what i am curious about is if it helps performance. if so, what can should a guy be running. i have a superlite by PPP and it sounds good, but on MY sled, i notice the infamous bottom end bog. i ended up putting my stock can back on because of it. i know of a few guys that have the same can and say that they wouldn't run anything else.

i think that for some reason, every one of these cats is a little different when it comes to what they like.

not unless the sway bar is plastic? my 09 crossfire sway bar is metal and the exhaust dumped on that before i took it off, it made a mess, but never hurt anything.

I would think you'd be able to buy a RH side pan from an M and accomplish the same thing, just costs more $$. Maybe I'm crazy, but I went from an Fseries to an Mseries and I noticed 2 things. 1, it SEEMS quieter dumping in the shock tower, and 2, my clothes don't SEEM to smell like 2 stroke exhaust as bad.

running my 06 XF chassis with a shockdump,, the end of the swaybar ,, not the link and not the bar itself ,, but the ARM is what needs protection ,, mine melted a good bit before i realized it ,, put some metal tape on it and i think its just fine,, still melted but not melting anymore ,, or as bad.. no big deal either way.

i built this sled chassis up and all i had was a welldump can and i had the well dump bellies so it worked.. if i had to do it again im not sure i would have gone that way, maybe yes maybe no. also i think the 07+ crossfire swaybar is narrower/shorter than the 06XF. so it doesnt get in the way as bad ,, you could cut the bulkhead swaybar tube shorter on both sides then go for the 07+ swaybar but then you also have to use 07+ lower A arms to match, so the links connect ( arm link points are different )

i was really hoping that i wouldn't have to change a bunch of stuff. i guess i thought of changing this can out for 2 reasons. 1. the shock tower dump can was "supposed to" eliminate powder bog. and 2. these cans are much easier to find than a bottom dump xfire style.

i try to read up on can's as much as i can. each one has a distinct sound. some supposedly add HP and most give weight reduction. i have also heard many people complain about bottom end bog from an aftermarket can.

now, one guy will say that his MBRP can makes his M7 bog on the bottom. the next guy will say that it works great in his M7, but a SLP makes his bog. not picking on brands, im not partial to any brand.

i had a hell of a time trying to find a used can to try on my Xfire to see if i liked it. for some reason, i can always come across a can for an M7. this is why i would like to make the switch. i can borrow a can from somebody to try. hell, i keep my spring thing in the cubby of my sled. if im out riding with somebody with an M7, i can swap them out in like a minute and give it a try.

Make the switch and get a Jaw's can. This wil be my summer porject. Those thing's sound awesome. Just don't run it around where noise can be a issue. Because it wil be an issue.

i have heard of them, just haven't heard much about them. only on the old skuds. do they have a website? if i remember right, i tried finding them once and couldn't. what are they supposed to add for power, weight reduction? have you heard of a bog issue?

I've had a number of cans from various manufacturers...MBRP, Bikeman, SLP. I had an MBRP on my F7, sound was really awesome until we rolled up a 220 miler one day in the UP. My ears rang SO bad after that day I sold it when we got back home. Went to stock for a couple weeks, that was too quiet so I went with the Bikeman can. Sound was really nice, acceptable at lower rpm but when the valves opened up, it barked- but not obnoxiously. Fit was mediocre at best.

Sold the F, bout an M which had a BMP can on it. The fit was horsesh!t on the M so I sold it and bought an SLP can. I'm loving the SLP can, it's very reasonable at partial throttle/cruise but when the valves open, it's got a very nice tone to it. What sold me the most on the SLP was their fit and finish, as well as the sound. It fights perfectly into the bellypan outlet, and isn't stupid loud.

Noise is a relative thing, what's loud to one person may not be to another. Check out youtube and i'm sure you'll find a few vids of the different cans.

i know what you mean. obnoxious is fun for a while, but it does get old. my cousin has a 99 mountain max 700 with a mbrp race can on it. if its not windy and he is taking a poke at a big hill, it echos for about 5 seconds after he lets off the pedal. sounds awesome, but when you ride by him all day, you would like to pull that thing out of there and throw it down the mountain.

from what i have gathered, slp does have the nicest fit and finish. my superlite is decent. i bought a dynoport can for my 99 670 HO (back in my dumb skud days). called out to new york and talked to rich daly himself, the owner of the company. told him i wanted it loud. oh, he made it loud allright. but the quality was crap. i am a weld engineering tech and welded for 6 years before i took that position. if there is one thing that i know, its quality. and that thing had none. it looked like somebody used a can of easy cheese and ran it where the welds should be. there were even holes where there was no weld at all. i was pretty pissed.

any problem with the bottom end bog on the slp? how about the mbrp?

Me personally, no problems with either the BMP, stock M7 can, or the SLP. Putting all 3 cans on a table, I'm going with the SLP for fit and finish alone. Not sure if it will play well with the RKT bigbore that's going in this year, but I'm going to find out....I thought speedwerx threw a number out there like 1 in 10 may sleds MIGHT develop a bog. If that's true, the odds are in your favor, for the most part. It's kinda sh!tty though, it's a $200.00+ "gamble" for a new can.

I've done a few things that I like to think tip the scales in my favor to avoid any bogs/rich conditions. Biggest one is re-routing the barometric pressure tube next to the oil tank so it can't plug with snow, I added a timbersled exhaust deflector to keep snow away from the exhaust outlet (may not be able to add on a X-fire...), sealed up any gaps between the bellypan and bulkhead with silicone.

i have the injector perfector on mine. i bought it that way, so im not sure how it would act without it. i like the sound of MBRP. never heard an SLP. i also like the snow stuff rumble pack sound. but i don't know if i could handle it all day.
