Skidoo Factory Motor Kit

Has anyone ran a factory motor kit on an xp? I am thinking of putting one of these on my 09 xp. I am curious if anyone has ran a lower compression head on on of these kits to make a trail mod. I dont want to run race fuel but i want more power out of my stocker. Im not sure if the kit will build much power without all the compression. Any thoughts?

Don't know about the kit or have any experience with it but I think you might be able to get more power out of your sled and save some money one the Ski-doo kit.

just send the thing out and get it ported and a higher comp head from an aftermarket company, And I think RKT can do a ecu recurve, so basically your getting all the same stuff, just less of a pain getting ahold of it.

in reality, a LOT of the power is derived from the huge compression.

The factory mod kit sent you pies, domes and a recruved ecm.
THATS IT.

the rst of the stuff like the airbox was just bs,., most mods were run with the stock box as it has better response and flows plenty.

the mods kits were best in 08 worse in 09 and JUNK in 2010.

Doo finaly pulled their collective heads out of their u know whats and LOWERED the port iming 6 degrees for 2011 !!!
YEAH !!!

The teams that built real mods used 04 ho 600 cylinders, THEN machined the bottoms .050 and then re worked just the trans ..those tpyes with 08 pipes ONLY made 155 + hp with 15.5 comp..@8400-8700.
09 2010 pipes lost 10 hp and had no low mid hit at all...junk.

baiscally you are buying domes and pipes,, you dont want the ecm and th silencer is much to loud..

The kit i am looking at was an 08 800 improved kit, he told me you had to run the airbox because it has a radius notch for pipe clearance. He also told me that you need to put a thicker base gasket under it to change the port timing. Basicly what i wanted to do is just put the pipes on to make a little more power. I figured you would need the ecm to bump the rev limiter?

yep, NO ONE ever put a thicker base in them,, they were LESS power than the stocker with the mod kits 2008-2010. as tested by dynotech too.

stock 08's made 135-137 stock on 98 octane fuel
mod kits made 131-133 hp

you do the math and figure what you want..

I ran the pipes on a 860r works well same performance as crankshop pipes,if you have race handbook it list a setup for improved kit.

Did the factory make any different pipes for Sno-X vs Hillclimb racing, or did they both use the same?

As far as I know ( snox and drags only) ..NO

the 08 pipes were 17mm shorter in the second diffuser than the 09 , 2010 pipes.

the 08 pipes hit harder and pulled more pin and ramp the the others too.

in the field to 08's heated in to run temp and held that temp much better and quicker also..

will have the 2011 mod kit on the dyno next thrusday vs the 08 pipes too.
